A buidling for agricultural purposes is well under construction between the Dome and the Grandstand.

How Cobb County will pay for the new Braves stadium:
http://deadspin.com/heres-how-cobb-c...ium=socialflow
Quote:
The county will finance the remaining $276 million by issuing revenue bonds. As for repaying those bonds, here are the bullet points. Remember, each figure is the annual cost over 30 years.
$400,000 from a new rental car tax.
$940,000 from the existing hotel/motel tax.
$2,740,000 from a new hotel/motel fee in the Cumberland CID.
$5,150,000 from a property tax increase in the CID.
$8,670,000 in relocation of existing Cobb County property taxes.
If you're against publicly financed stadiums (and you ought to be), that last one is startling. While the majority of Cobb County residents won't be paying any additional taxes to fund the Braves' stadium, a large amount of their existing tax payments will cover for the costs. That's $8.67 million a year, for 30 years, that Cobb County could spend on other things (say, rehiring all those teachers) but will instead use to build a ballpark.

^ Cobb County Population = ~700,000.
Roughly $20 per resident per year in property taxes going to pay for the stadium.

That braves situation really does show how ridiculous the stadium aspect part of professional sports is becoming. There's this growing trend of municipalities bending over backwards to try and attract these teams through dodgy financing and public funds. It either causes ridiculous stand offs with the native city (Edmonton situation) or stupid moves that make no sense for either side (Glendale). The 49ers are set to become the big four team that plays the furthest from their named city when they move to Santa Clara because they got a better deal on public funds than they could get from San Francisco. Anyways, not sure how the public funds situation is gonna turn out with our stadium but hopefully it's minimal and we can avoid the fight that Edmonton went through.

Off-topic: Even the original 1896 Athens Olympic Stadium is still standing and in operation. If they tear down Turner Field, it will only be the 3rd out of all the Summer Olympic Stadiums in history to be torn down.
Without looking it up. Name the other two.

At least they actually play in the same state as the city the team is named after - Ahem, NYG and NYJ.

Does (old) Wembley count? Because that would be one.
If I had to guess another it would probably be another pre-war one like Antwerp or St. Louis or something.

As for stupid trivia, Washington state just approved the largest state tax subsidy in history of $9 billiion over 16 years to keep Boeing from moving which makes that Cobb County deal look like peanuts.

It's not stupid trivia. The point of the question was that most stadiums last forever and it is only a recent phenomenon that cities and counties play this tug of war game for money and new stadium/arena developments.
the answer was London and London. 1908 stadium and 1948 old wembley.
every other stadium is still in operation.
