The team make improvements. Sure there were some bad signings but there were good ones too. Elliott didn't pay off but it looked like a good gamble especially considering the cost. I wouldn't have wanted to bring in Bishop for large money...not that he was playing great either. So for those who want to give him the boot....who do you bring in?

The most Calgary Flames thing they could do is let treliving walk for nothing only to promote some out of their element jabroni to slowly erode the progress treliving has built.

They need to stay the course with "the process" We have a ways to go but they did make an effort to improve the team, things pretty much backfired but it's not like they picked up guys that we were expecting to all fail. Elliott had good stretches but couldn't find a consistent game in the playoffs. Brouwer was underwhelming. We had a really expensive 4th line. Some of the youth struggled. All in all though I think they took some small steps forward and have a much better idea of the level they need to push to if they want to move up. To get back into the playoffs should be viewed as progress. To get swept in 4 games should be viewed as an opportunity to learn and grow from. I see changes coming but not much in terms of management or coaching.

Nope. 7 hours of sleep after a 1200 mile drive yesterday didn't curtail my incredulous response to the idea that this is even a question or my desire to act like a 12 year old in response. Just baffling that anyone believes the organization would be better off without Brad Treliving.

The only reason I voted for #1 and not #3 is because I stopped reading at #1 due to #3

Dean Lombardi is the second-worst contract negotiator of all-time behind Sather. I would hate it if the Flames brought him in.

Again, that's not to say we should lower our expectations but more to suggest that the grass most definitely isn't always greener in NHL GM land. With what Brad brings to the table in terms of steady, decent moves, mixed with big, calculated splashes I'd stay with that captain on this ship.

Just look around the league to see how quickly a poor/complacent GM can submarine a rebuild and keep a team in mediocrity for years. Believe it or not, this is not a mediocre/failing hockey club.
Yes, exactly this. One great example of what happens when you make unnecessary changes is the Panthers. Went from over 100 points last year to a lottery team this year.

The Flames need to make this decision soon.

It should be an easy decision.

Hope to hear something soon but I'd imagine an announcement like this would come after the cup final?

If the Flames take that long to make an announcement, they've failed.

There's less than 2 weeks between the Finals and the expansion draft and amateur draft.

This decision needs to be made as soon as possible.

I would have voted the "obvious" option but I saw yes and didn't bother to read any of the other options until I submitted.

I think Ken King needs to be placed back into a Hockey Ops role. The team just hasn't been the same without him.

What I meant was, the decision might be made already but they wouldn't announce anything until after the finals but you're right. They need to get this done asap.

He's certainly overrated on these boards but I think he deserves to be brought back. The amount of turnover in the head office and coaching staff had long been a problem for the Flames so some stability would be nice for a change.

Both Tre and GG deserve another year or half a year if they are really horrible to start next year.

This just makes me angry that this could even be a possibility.

If I'm Pegula, among the GM candidates I would look at: Julien BriseBois, Jason Botterill, Dean Lombardi and Brad Treliving (if he's free)

As a Canucks fan, I would love if Treliving wasn't brought back by the Flames.

He's had a few misses (all GM's do) but so many hits. Generally gets good value in trades and solid with contracts. (Troy Brouwer aside)
