I don't know how the rules read, but theoretically anything that delays the drop of the puck could be considered "delay of game".

Would have loved to see Draisatl get a game. Even though a hack to the sac is about as dirty as it gets, in a 2-2 game the major and misconduct maybe means you lose, and a fine is good.
Do it in a 5-0 blowout, and the fine is not enough.

if he gets another misconduct in the playoffs (next two games) he's automatically suspended for a game plus any league discipline.

He's now a repeat offender which means that if he does anything like this again he'll get the Marchand treatment.

Tierney will probably punch his lights out at the start of next season, and none of the Oiler goons will step in to save him.

Any Oiler that whines about MT slew foot can now officially STFU thank you very much.

Plus, I'd rather take an elbow to the face then a stick to the sack anytime.

Disappointed, but not surprised in the least. He didn't have prior history of suspensions, the player came back to play and wasn't injured long term, and LD got 5 and a game and sometimes in situations like this the league thinks that's enough discipline.

I always think they NHL is far too light, and I think they are here again, but I've just gotten used to it. Pretty bad precedent IMO, but I don't think the league really cares or they would actually give out some harsher suspensions so players actually think twice before doing some of this stuff.

Andy Strickland‏@andystrickland
#NHL player safety used past precedent to determine Leon Draisaitl fine. Can't just go off script, look at similar incidents

This is what I'm talking about. The league has been soft on discipline for years, but they are trying to be consistent, so they'll just continue to be soft. One of these years things have to change. You have millionaires not getting suspensions but rather being fined pocket change. There's no incentive for these players to really change how they treat each other.

I think Marchand got games because of who he is, not the offence.

Sure would have been nice for him to get an extra game, but a major & game was still good enough to ensure the pile on continued.

I am hoping that game broke the Sharks... cause I don't want it to go to game 7.

Taking some time away from hockey after the Flames loss. Didn't watch but when I went to bed it was 3-1 SJ. Disappointing to wake up to these results

Should the greasers score, I sure hope that Dave Randorf doesn't make everyone feel as if they are listening in on a private moment.

"Breathless" is being polite.

You would swear Randorf was the regular Oilers PBP man with how excited he gets for every Oilers goal.

I expect the Oilers to wrap things up tonight. Sharks don't have the legs to play 60 minutes. That's a team on the decline. I'm sure Thornton isn't 100% but boy does he look slow now. Looks like the end is nearing for what's been a fabulous career.

Sharks' Thornton played through torn MCL, ACL against Oilers

How is that even possible? Jumbo is something else!

Yeah that's really something else. Tore my ACL and meniscus 6 years ago and can't begin to imagine playing through what he did. Kudos.
