Probably close to an inch.

Wow, goalie skates have changed a lot since my day (90s). Mine was basically just the boot and the blade, none of that white "filler". The shell around the foot blends in a lot more, too (or is it even there?).
On first glance, I wouldn't want to take a slapshot off the toes in those modern things.

I think they still wear skate protectors cowlings though.

You see his competitive fire on display when a player breaks in on him. I'd love to see a few of his games go to a shootout so we can see him battle there.

The height fixation in this thread has gone overboard.

Yeah I'm firmly in the boat that his height won't matter as much as people think. His accolades across all levels thus far speak for him. We have a gem here.

He'll always be disadvantaged when it comes to high shots in situations where he can't get back up.
But watching his footwork on that Barbashev save last week I think he's elite in enough other ways to get it done overall.
Question to me isn't NHL or not.
Probably not starter or not.
I think it's top ten or not ... that verdict, of course is still waiting.

Vernie was impressive! Did you see some of the equipment he started his career with? Lucic would have been wider than him! lol

Short enough that when he was on his back he couldn't reach that little floater from Krushelniski in OT.

Different times. Greg Millen is tiny too. Can’t say that type of goalie would be the norm today as it was in the past. Anyway, Wolf’s footwork is indeed elite. I have no doubt about that. But the NHL is much larger than it ever was and the jury is completely out on how his size will play into the league. It’s a legit concern and unknown. He’s probably the finest modern day goaltender I’ve seen. It’s not the norm.

Idk about the rest of you but I’m not a huge fan of his current mask. I’m hoping next year he goes with a Cujo inspired wolf mask

If the only positive influence Markstrom has on Wolf is a better mask, that’s still worth it for me.
