Couple things to add to this thread. First off my work Sports Rent, 4424 16th Ave NW, is once again doing our full ski tune specials, same price as last year. $25 for skis and $30 for snowboards which includes sharpening, base repair (basically all repairs except any base patches) a stone grand and then a IR wax. This special will run for the rest of the month. www.sportsrent.ca

Secondly I'm looking for 2 more people to get a power of 4 pass at Norquay. It's a pass that costs $135.45 each and gives you Monday-Friday skiing at Norquay. Sale for the pass ends on the 15th so I'm down to a couple days to try and find two others. Please PM me if you might be interested. http://winter.banffnorquay.com/ticke...season-passes/

I am looking at offloading some ski equipment that is a few years old. Is the ski sale at Max Bell a good place to consign it, or better of doing something else?

If it's in good shape you can probably get a few bucks for it. Obviously the other option is kijiji; don't have to pay the swap that way.

Exactly this. Personally I would throw them on Kijiji right away and try to unload them before the Maxbell sale and if they don't sell then take them down to the sale as long as they are in decent shape.

Ski show is such a sham.

The sale can be good if you know what you want and what you should pay. That being said you definitely have to sort through a bunch of crap to find the good deals.

Thought I would throw one last effort out there to try and find a 4th person for the Norquay pass. Quick recap is that they cost $135 including tax and it gives you a Monday-Friday pass for the season but they must be bought in groups of 4.

Final reminder that if anyone wants to get the ski/board tune special it ends on Monday. Current price is $25 for skis and $30 for snowboards for complete tune ups. The price goes to our regular rate of $50 on Tuesday.

So I just spent an absolutely obscene amount of money on layers. I'm pretty sure I own everything Outdoor Research has ever made at this point.

... So, anyone been touring yet?

Highwood is crap now. Wind and solar loading, needs more snow to get out there again.

Bow is about the only thing skiable right now. Tracked pretty good over the weekend, but still freshies to be had. Not too many sharks, but be careful. Mid and back bowl were better.

They were getting puked on when I left. Tomorrow should be good, half tempted to stop adulting for the day and head out.

How is the snow situation in the Rockies so far? Haven't really heard anything about any snowfalls and Calgary hasn't had much at all. Are we in for another dry ski season? I sure hope not

So far shaping up really well. Sunshine's looking to open early, good base forming around Sunshine, Pano, Kick, and Louise from what I've seen. Saw lots of snow around west of Banff yesterday.

Still really early but Sunshine looks in peak form already based on their instagram posts.

In other news, it's official. A lift ticket at Sunshine is now $99.

Ridiculous. Hopefully they hurt a little due to the economy and bad rep from the last couple seasons and drop prices, but that's not going to happen.
