Agreed! I feel for your Jordan!, but they have been so close to a solution for over 20 years! I'm not saying it can't work, but history has shown hasn't worked. It is finally time for the NHL to move on. In fact, the NHL should have moved on long ago.

I do feel bad for the fans there. Heck, it always sucks for the local fans when a team relocates, and this is no different. If you zoom out, I think the league should have pulled the plug on Arizona a long time ago ... it feels like they have gone far beyond what was reasonable to somehow save this market and make it work there. Much of that is down to ownership, no doubt about it ... feels like it's been decades of instability and insecurity there. Either way, the prospects of securing suitable land for a new arena must have been really dire for them to finally pull the plug now.

I did a Google.

The Greater Roadrunner is native to Utah.

I believe the Salt Lake City Roadrunners would be both appropriate and beautifully ironic.

I wonder how big the fanbase actually is there? There are often empty seats at Mullett and the civic politicians seems to be an obstacle everywhere, and I assume they represent the majority of the voting public.

Not that it doesn't suck for the fans that are there, but if SLC develops a bigger fanbase, my happiness for them outweighs the sadness for the Arizona fans.

I recognize that the 20 years of uncertainty played a big role in that in Arizona. It's hard to invest yourself in a team when there is a constant circus going on behind the scene. The NHL should have ripped the band-aid off a long time ago. The damage done to that potential market is probably going to take a long time to repair.

I have to ask has anybody on cp ever lived in Utah? If so what’s it like? I remember decades ago Dennis Rodman didn’t like it. Lol

I am going to miss arguing with Jordan and Scorp about how this outcome was a foregone conclusion.

I always thought Jordan and Scorpion were the same person... sorry fellas. Yeah this is seemingly overdue but still a surprise. Go back when the arena is sorted if ever. Houston, Atlanta and Phoenix are surely coming down the road given the size of the market but just hasn't worked in this iteration.
