If you would've told me that the team is weeks away from getting land in an optimal location that the league would pull the plug like this? Unreal. Horrible look for the Meruelo Group. Just another bunch of pretenders in AZ

it would be incredibly tough to support any Meruelo invested "expansion" if the NHL did come back here.

have been a fan since 2000 and the team is a huge reason I moved here in 2009.. I've invested a ton of personal time, money, energy defending this team.. But to see the team uproot like this when they are SO close to a solution is 100% mindblowingly unexpected. I have no words..

I am absolutely uninvested to a large degree, haven't been to a game since 2019 outside of 1 game at Mullett to see The Flames last season so I'm not even close to a die hard fan today.. But I TRULY believe the NHL can work in Arizona.. but it's just such a shame that the team has been run by absolute pretenders since day 1.

I'm pretty indifferent to when teams that re-locate keep the name or look. I don't think it's stealing someone else's look, after all it's technically the same team. For me I think it comes down two these factors:
1. Does the name make any sense in the new locations: e.g. Coyotes probably can make sense in Utah (not that I'm advocating for it). Nordiques wouldn't have made sense in Colorado.
2. Is the league fully closing the door on the old market - if not, I like keeping the option to re-introduce the team name back to the market if the NHL ever returns (again not that it has to go that way)

If they were close to a solution, they wouldn't be moving. The reality is that a solution has never been further away.

I think the only solution is Arizona moves to at least draft position #8 and teams behind them move up a spot in the draft.
