Did you notice the bonus data? Kuzmenko damn sure has scored 30. Nyquist and DeBrusk haven't even done that.

And sure, Nyquist hasn't done it, but he has 74 points this year and is a better all-around player.
Nyquist is 34 years old and will not be a free agent until 2025. How do you propose to get him for nothing?

Quote:
DeBrusk is primed to pop with more ice time outside of Boston.
As Pat Steinberg likes to say, until you've done it, you haven't done it. Many a player has been ‘primed to pop’ but never actually did it.

DeBrusk is already 27, an age at which players who are going to ‘pop’ usually have already done so.

Kuzmenko is a skilled, exciting player who is simply not going to keep scoring on a quarter of his shots.
As I said earlier, that's just what the Canucks thought. Then they traded him, and he kept on scoring on a quarter of his shots.

There are very good reasons why his shooting percentage is so high.

Quote:
There's a way to capitalize off his hot streak while keeping the roster in good shape.
No, there really isn't. Because contrary to your claim, you're not going to replace him for free.

Do you remember the last time the Flames decided they needed a goal-scoring RW and went to the free-agent market? They signed James Neal. Remind me how that one worked out.

He reminds me of Kent Nilsson(yeah I'm old) who would rather make a fancy(sometimes bad) pass than take low percentage shots.

I'm seriously perplexed at some of the posters here wanting him moved for a pick or two, he's the same age as Mangiapane and makes less. Let that sink in!

- just turned 28
- has played less than 2 seasons
- 40 goal,78 point clip over that time
- seemingly a fun guy and great teammate

Now that he's healthy he's showing what a damn good hockey player he is, we should be sending Patrik Allvin a dozen roses and stupid pills, not talking about trading him.

Let what sink in? … I don’t want them extending mangiapane either. He’ll be 29 when his contract ends.

Not every player is going to be a 2-way guy. The Flames need some offensive catalysts and Kuzmenko is perfect for it. I'd lock him up for 4-5 years at a reasonable rate. All the young guys coming up will need to play with some veterans and skill guys. Look at how good Pospisil and Zary are with Kadri. Or the obvious Tkachuk situation with Backlund and Frolik.

I'm kind of over optimizing my fan experience for the Flames to win a cup. I've got almost the entirety of my life to prove that is an expectation that is not going to lead to me having fun watching hockey.

I have fun watching Kuzmenko pay hockey and be interviewed. That makes me happy. Keep him.

Yeah, no one should expect their team to win a cup. I've gotten to see the Flames play for three and win two (it was in). But I could be a fan of a lot of teams that have never won a cup in my lifetime. And I'm old - the list is longer for most people on this board.

Yeah but if Mangiapane was doing what Kuzmenko is doing, you’d want him back.

I was listening to 960 coming back from Edm last night and Meaghan said that he lost a few kilos since his injury.

Maybe this is the norm for him moving forward. I like Andy Kuzmenchuk.

I think you missed the point, I suspect if Mangiapane was scoring at a 40 goal clip you would.

I hope we find a way to keep Kuz past next year. He's probably my favourite current Flame who clearly has high-end skill and is a proven goal scorer.

We can't just run rookies all over the roster imo, we need some stable vets to help them grow and keep this franchise from becoming a toxic mess.

I dont get why ppl are worried if dudes 28 backlund and coleman are 34 and theyre fine , 28 -32 is like prime age for hockey players isntnit? so hopefully they find a way to keep him and he also wants to be here, plus we need him and sharky to lead for the c of red army connies building
