Earned not given. Wideman hasn't earned anything this year. Andersson has been playing great in the AHL from all reports. Stick to the motto.

Wideman is the better option. Plus, rules.

Is this still the team motto? I would be surprised that they would stick with the former coach's mantra.

In any event, I have maintained that fans tend to over read and misinterpret what "always earned; never given" means on a team with a mix of rookies, veterans, players on one-way and two-way contracts, pending RFAs and UFAs.

We only know the motto. We are not privy to how it was applied.

Hopefully Rasmus can "fit" himself into the lineup.

Man I have to give you a lot of credit for your relentless defense of all things Dennis Wideman these days.

Honest question though, if we are judging him solely on his play this season which by all accounts has been putrid, how on earth do you see him being a better option than even a pylon at this point, let alone a solid young d-man?

I'm not a Wideman lover. In fact, look at one of my first posts on this board, he was my least favourite Flame. But, judging him solely on his play, he's played better than Kulak and Kevin. Wideman is not good, but he's not as bad as the hyperbole here either. With Stone and Bart in, he was where he should have been. With a slot open, he's the next best option. Anderson is completely untested at the NHL level and the Flames are in a PO battle. You go with the vet at this point.

According to John Cleese, we are living in 1984. "...all comedy is critical".

I disagree. You run Rasmus for a few games as his confidence is high from playing in the AHL. At this point, I cannot see how Rasmus is not more game ready than wideman considering reports of him essentially checking out on the team. I really do believe that as of today Wideman < Any of the call ups available.

If wideman is mailing g in efforts in practice, why in the blue hello do you want him mailing in efforts in a playoff push. It makes no sense to prefer wideman today over Andersson. I'm not saying Andersson is the answer but holy man, just in attitude and effort alone there's a difference.

Give me the excited kid eager to prove he is worthy who's playing very well over a vet on his last legs limping put of a career.

Nice! I think Fatmus is my favourite prospect. Good time to get him a game or two while the team is rolling.

Those "reports" are second hand from a CP member relating what an alleged reporter allegedly said. They absolutely should not be taken at anything close to face value. Not even if you want to believe it simply because we all hate Wideman.

It's a crappy situation right now. In order to play Andersson, both Stone and Hamilton will need to sit for the next game.

Unless Hamilton is good to go and the Flames decide to change the Andersen recall from emergency to regular then he can play but we only have 3 recalls left. Until they know if Dougie is good to go why burn a recall?

Oh, I was un-aware that a team could "Change a Recall" after it has been done. Interdasting.
