Damn, you get GC for free if you get a cellphone with Rogers? Not bad.

Now that was last year, not sure if they will continue this year.
Edit: actually looks like they will this year, nice!

Port your number, after getting the Koodo $48 Sask/Man plan, and you save $37/month plus tax compared to the same Rogers plan.
That $466/year will buy you Gamecentre plus a couple cases a beer a month to enjoy while watching the games.

Gamecenter was $99 for me last year.. And I'm already with Rogers, but on the 6 Gig super plan they desperately want me off of, so I'm fine with my $99 subscription.

Anyone know how to watch ESPN with no cable (ie Monday Night Football)?

Did you just set your address to somewhere in Sask?

I talked to a Best Buy person yesterday, you now need to have a Sask address to give them to set it up, but you can still get it. (Use an inbred cousin's address or google an address to give them)

So I go to watch a recorded episode I have of The Strain on the Shaw PVR last night and the sound is all wrong. Sounds like they are all talking underwater. Basically unwatchable.
Fire up Popcorn Time and watch the episode right away. Perfect picture and sound.
Why am I paying $150 a month for cable again? Oh right, because it's the legal way to do it.

Not to your point, but I expect you are aware that Popcorn Time is torrent based, and therefore you are subject to any file sharing issue copyright concerns.
Other sources are download only, and therefore from my understanding, less 'risky'.

Oh I know how Popcorn Time works. Like I said, I know it's not legal, but it is pathetic that I can count on it more than my paid Shaw and expensive gateway and portal system.

I'm with Shaw and on basic "Personal TV" package, I didn't realize until right now...but there are 6 games this season including tomorrow's that I will NOT be able to watch since they are on SN 360 and that channel requires a higher package.
*sigh*

Getting pretty close to cutting the cord myself... never thought I would! It became painfully obvious that it was time after we tracked how much actual TV we watched this month.
Our only concern is that we really want HBO (for GoT, obviously)
What are our options? Are they still cracking down on Canadian customers for HBO Now?

Well.. Bell just got the rights to HBO Canada throughout Canada. It is possible they launch an HBO Go in Canada or add it to their Crave TV system... but nothing announced yet.

Got sboit 28 copyright notices from shaw while snagging a season of catfish to watch with my gf
Even had it purchased on my iPad .. Willbe interesting if they pursue

My theory is that HBO was able to identify non-US HBO-Now customers that were using popular VPN services - I have not seen any cases of unblock-us or other DNS based redirecting sites where users were identified.
Unrelated to the quoted post, but I'm curious if anyone has tried to get out of a Telus TV agreement, and what methods they used?

You can payout your contract. I was able to get out of my contract because of technical problems with the service. Had a tech come out to my place about 6 times.

I had my HBO Now cut off. I was using unblock-us. I preferred to pay HBO but I'm also ok with just watching it for free.

If it is just for one or a few HBO shows, BT is your friend. Another painful truth is because Shaw's signals are so compressed, BT beats Shaw for picture quality.
Of course, you can get HBO Now US and use VPN/UnblockUs to get the shows you want to watch too.
