Anyone besides me and Squiggs watching?

The fields are stacked and it'll be on TSN all week.
Two tickets to Pyeongchang!

My guilty pleasure. Best tournament in curling.

It's incredible how deep the field is. I'm picking Koe and Homan to win.

And with mixed doubles entering the fold for these Olympics, it's another curling medal for Canada to win.

Yes, I'm a huge curling fan, going with Gushue, who I can't stand, and Homan as I think they are our best chances for gold. Jacobs and Jones repeating would be great to and would be equally favoured.

Would go out of my mind if the Scheidegger girls won, watched my wife play against them for last 15 years or so and to see how far they have come and for a team from our club and city (Lethbridge) make the Olympics would be awesome. Talked to them last Saturday after they were done practising, just congratulated them and wished them all the best, mentioned we should be having a send off party for them and Casey just replied, "not untill February". It gave me goosebumps, they have the confidence and are that close.

Very cool. I have my eye on the Scheidegger rink. I think it has a lot to do with the connections to Cheryl Bernard's team from 2010, with Susan O'Connor as their alternate and Kristie Moore at lead. And isn't Carolyn McRorie coaching them? Best of luck to them!

Looked like Homan had a bit of the jitters today, but I don't want to take anything away from Carey. Calgary team and Scotties champ. It's not easy to start against the favourite and come away with a win.

The first day is always interesting, with the teams feeling out the ice.

Homan has been bad all year, I think her team peaked 1 year early.

To echo Derek's story, it's all serious business in Ottawa. The broadcast mentioned that all teams had their game faces on. No smiles.

"Good luck"
"Thanks"
"Good luck"
"Thanks"
etc....

No joking around.

The Homan rink will rebound. They didn't win the Scotties and go perfect at the Worlds by fluke.

Glad to see Jacobs dispose of Morris, a team that doesn't even practice together. He always gets pissed at this teammates. It must be nice to be so perfect.

Homan can't make the circus shot everytime. Too much risk.

So glad you started this thread Girly. Living in the US I didn't realize this had started. Pleasantly surprised to find coverage on ESPN3!

Really pleased to see Chelsea Carey doing well thus far, she seems to be a bit of a forgotten entity in this thing. That team can be as good as any in the world if they find their groove.

Also go Koe go...love that guy.

Am I crazy for thinking these three are about the best announce/commentary team there is, in any sport?

Vic Rauter is an icon. Isn't it amazing how his call makes every shot count? I especially love when the skip stones get thrown and he mentions both sweepers, usually by full name, with these dramatic pauses. It's just so good.

Cheryl and Russ add such smart commentary and they do it in a way that even a casual fan or someone who is flipping the channels without a clue about curling will understand it.

They are awesome.

The addition of Cathy O was so smart. Hall of Famer with a plethora of experience.

So much pressure on every shot after you have a loss in this event.

Calgary's doing well! Carey and Koe are perfect thus far.

Something will have to give tomorrow when Carey faces the only other perfect rink in Jones. No doubt Cathy O would love a win there.

Awesome day for both Calgary rinks. Koe booked his ticket to Sunday's final with a win over Morris and Carey won again to secure a playoff spot.

Jones lost again today too.

Such a great tournament.

If Sweeting beats Homan tonight it will be a big mess for 2nd and 3rd.

Men's side might be less of a mess. Jacobs never recovered from that missed draw on Sunday.
