Looks like a couple of Calgary prospects get the call for the Hockey Canada Summer Development Camp

Congrats Greg Nemisz and Kevin Aulie!!!!

Yes, I am also surprised no Negrin, maybe Sutter told them not to bother as he may already have plans of him on the big club?

Great to see Aulie considered though, much will depend on how many of those young defensemen jump up to the NHL this season, Doughty, Schenn...
What's the story with Thomas Hickey, it says he is invited but unable to participate in on-ice sessions?

Do you know when the development camp is? I've gone to a scrimmage in the past, and wouldn't mind checking it out again this year. It's a good way to see a couple of the Flames prospects compared to their peers.

But they invited the 8-10 other defensemen that have a better shot of being in the NHL next year as well as forwards guaranteed to be there?

I can't see Aulie making the team. International play seems 100% the opposite of how he plays the game.

He had trouble with the speed and controlling the head shots/elbows in the WHL play-offs. I imagine with IIHF refs he would be in the penalty box before he even stepped on the ice.

The one thing that most people need to remember is that the summer camp and the
December camp are two different animals. They tend to invite a lot of younger guys to the summer camp and the performance in the first half of the hockey season will be the basis of the December invites.
There could be 4-5 guys who actually play in the NHL this year and if that happens you will see a bunch of guys not on the list get the invite and a couple make the team.
It happens more than people might think.

That sucks. I would have gone. I guess I'll just have to live with the Flames rookie camp only.

I'm bartending Priddis Greens golf course over the summer, and Hockey Canada had a tournament there the other day to get to know all of the young prospects that were drafted this year.

Was pretty cool, there were guys like Stamkos, Doughty, Tavares, and Nemisz, there...as well as Ryan Getzlaf and Lanny McDonald, and Hockey Canada big guys like Bob Nicholson, etc.

Didn't really get a chance to talk to anybody except for Lanny because I was kind of busy, but it was definitely cool to be there among all those future greats.

Congrats to the kids, although I'm kind of disapointed because I wanted to see them in Calgary at the rookie development camp.
