I think its simply rhe fact that the high profile opponents are looking for good quality friendlies prior to Europe 2024. And now that Canada suddenly provides that then the high profile opponents have something to gain from it.

I thought the higher profile countries typically charge for them to visit you where you are getting the gate... home dates in their country where they are already making millions in gate are an easier sell, maybe we are just getting a bit luckier in that higher ranked teams aren't signing up, our ranking is in the top 50 and we have bankable stars from a gate perspective who are known in france in Johnny David and Davies?

Canada's in a unique situation because they are willing to travel. With both the Euros and Copa America going on, all the Copa America teams are playing friendlies on this side of the Atlantic. The US has become a country that travels nowhere, thumping their chest that they have the best stadiums and gates and Mexico piggybacks on that.
The Asian and African teams are booked in that window playing World Cup qualifiers. So Canada is the only country in the world leaving it's continent in June.

Probably not - these games will be the Euro Cup warm ups for these teams.
You will probably get top rosters.

From the article I had posted above a couple weeks back, other federations are footing the majority of the costs.
While federation staff have secured friendly games for the men's team on June 6 against the Netherlands and two other games in late 2024 with the U.S. and Mexico, that's happened because the Dutch and U.S. soccer federations have agreed to cover most of the costs of those games, the Canada Soccer source told TSN.
Not sure if it's the same with France.
Regardless, good to get some proper competition, both Copa America and friendlies. Keep them coming, Canad will be a high enough profile opponent given the WC hosting.

Jose says no, so it's on to Jesse Marsch or OGS.
Not sure how the CSA planned to pay JM, a guy who has never coached a national team and made little sense, but the approach appears to be that any wild press for the CSA is good press.

Great so we're linked with a series of managers who have climbed to the top league in the world... and the head coach of a stacked/overpowered CPL team set up to at least make the finals every year. The cynic in me feels like there is only one way this can go based on the CSA's history. If it's possible to find a guy with a worse resume than Biello for serious consideration, they just might have done it. Like handing the keys to a ferrari over to a go cart champ.
Marsh would be interesting but I don't know if his high press setup would work well with our players? Ole was pretty decent in his time at Molde but obviously didn't really get it over the line with Man U. Glittering playing career and profile that would surely sway some dual internationals and bring some attention to the program

Tactics have 1% to do with the search, certainly at this point. It's about blinding the interested general public in recognizeable names to raise a faux profile of the CSA leading up to the WC, with the allure to said coaches of getting them some personal positive PR with a CA game against Messi as their debut game, and the spotlight of a home WC 2 years away.
They'll be a ramp up starting this fall for sponsors and others to get onboard for the WC. A shiny new coach will help. No matter how the WC goes, things will get ugly after the 2026 WC is over.

Vanney isn't going anywhere with LAG firing on all cylinders this year (finally) and living in L.A
Jesse Marsh has been unemployed since last and applied for the CSA job many years ago after leaving the Montreal Impact. He's got experience coaching both in Canada and several European leagues. I think he'd be a good hire.
QSI fielding a team in Quebec would be the miracle that CPL needs to get finally get another team (especially in Quebec).
It's best to pay no attention to expansion rumours both official and unofficial given the lack of tangible progress given the constant updates and promises over the years.

Jacen Russell Rowe had two goals and an assist in the two-leg CCC semi finals against Monterrey. He’s had a strong start to the MLS year and I think is making a real big push to be in the Copa Squad

Russell-Rowe looks like he's going to be a very good player. Probably not at the level of David or Larin but I think he will have a long future with the national team.
Thankfully he made the decision to leave TFC and sign with Columbus.

The talent coming out of TFC's academy is insane compared to the other two MLS teams, just tough for them all to get playing time especially when that club loves bringing in ancient europeans looking for a payday. Agree that its good to see players like him and Shaffelburg move on

TFC have always had very good players that they identify and get signed to the first team. Their problem is that they never trust the players to take the next step. A good recent example is CB Lazar Stefanovic, who at 16 got into the first team and looked good enough to play MLS. This year he can't get a start with the reserves for some reason.
Nelson is another good example of a player who has done well after leaving.
Herdman may make a player out of Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty yet but trying to get a similar transfer fee that Alphonso Davies got, burying him on the depth chart and playing him out of position nearly ruined his career before it started.

Rumours abound that Jesse Marsch will be the next head coach of the MNT. As soon as I heard his name in the mix I thought it would be him.
I know a lot of people will bash the hire because a lot of people bash everything the CSA does but I like it.

Pretty pleased with that hire. Only angle I don't love is him being a national of the side I view as our biggest rival but he's a pro and he knows what he's doing. The silver lining there is that we seem to be competing with the stars and stripes for dual nationals and he will only help our cause.
