Just caught the latter part of the third and watching highlights now. Just baffled how the oilers got a 5 on 3 after that hit on Kane. Shoulder was first point of contact-clean.
Even Ken reid the SN oilers fan had no idea why they got a 5 on 3.

Did the league ever explain how a check that was shoulder to chest got a two minute hitting to the head penalty?

Trouba makes that hit all the time and ends up with nothing and is praised for making a good hard clean shoulder to chest hit.

The league continues to make a joke of itself changing the rules based on the team. If that's Nurse on a King I bet they even out the calls for the scrum and he gets nothing for the hit.

I figured it out. The reffing isn't biased in favour of McDavid, Draisaitl, or even the Oilers per se. It's that the whole league is in on a conspiracy to award Zach Hyman the Conn Smythe. It's the only rational explanation at this point.

Not a conspiracy - mcdavid is in close communication with bettman and executives. Its blatant if you look at the all star game. Mcdavid has continuously lobbied for easier calls for the oilers (for obvious mcPP reasons) and has threatened the NHL that he will leave edmonton for a big US market if it doesnt happen. The NHL obviously doesnt want edmonton to crumble.

It’s interesting why the whole media and certain ones are so sympathetic towards Hyman after he was put on blast.

I didn’t see the same for Cheechoo when he was tapping in empty netters from Thornton and was out of the league soon after.
