Nice little smoak bomb there. Hopefully Osuna can wrap it up and the Jays will pass the Rays if they hold on. Small steps up the ladder.

3 games out of the Wildcard now. 7-3 in the past 10. Donaldson with 7 HR's in that span.

They were just recently 7 games out, this has been an unexpected turn.

Jays Remaining Schedule

9 Vs Red Sox (69-51)
7 Vs Twins (59-59)
6 Vs Yankees (64-55)
4 Vs Orioles (59-62)
3 Vs Cubs (63-57)
3 Vs Rays (60-63)
3 Vs Tigers (53-67)
3 Vs Royals (61-59)

15 games against the best from the AL east does not make for easy fun times.

Not only they need to win the series, they need to sweep a few of them as well in order to stand a chance for a wild card spot...

The Angels also play Houston 9 times, the Rangers 10 times and the Mariners for 6 Indians + O's for 3 so it's not like the jays are the only one with a bear of a schedule.

Without those 3 blown Osuna saves this team is 62-59, tied for the 2nd wild card and one of the hottest teams in baseball. Too bad but still nice that they are playing meaningful games right now.

Imagine the dream scenario;

Yankees were the AL East team that put in a claim on Estrada to block trade to potential rivals Red Sox and Astros.

Jays keep Estrada who helps team claim 2nd WC spot.

Estrada starts wildcard game in Yankee stadium and ends their season.

JD is dragging this team back into contention. Good to see. It's nice to remember how great your great players are.

But there were 2 walk off grand slams too!! So things do even out.

Given that, I do believe with better luck, the Jays could have won 5 to 7 more games, which put them in a fairly comfortable position.

As usual with Stoeten articles, nsfw language - but always a good read.

In the second photo it looks like Tepara is clearly trying to aim at Smoak, but because of his attack angle the momentum of the liquid is already going off to his right
