Just a tip for folks out there...

I use LastPass (lastpass.com) to manage all my passwords. Basically, it installs a Chrome extension, and manages all your passwords and form details for you. Its more secure than the stock browser password manager, and it can be synced across multiple devices, including smartphones.

The relevance to this thread though, is that we're talking about secure passwords. LastPass can generate a secure password for you to use for CP (or any other site), and there's no need for you to remember it. LastPass will remember it for you!

Here is a screenshot of my 'Edit password' page on CP. As you can see, this dialog box appears when you click on a password field. As you can see, LastPass is saying I have 1 password stored for CP (the little icon in the 'current password' box), and if I want to change it, its offering to generate a secure one for me.

If they had a keylogger then they wouldn't be getting unsuccessful login attempt notices

The forum has a member list, so the hackers just screen scrape the member list, make a list of member IDs to try, use their most common password list, and then just keep trying to log in as someone.

Far far too many different people it has happened to to be a common virus or malware.

That's a good idea, even if it was to hide it from people that weren't logged in (I manually approve all accounts).

There is an option to hide member info based on user group, so I changed the un-registered group to not be able to see member info, which includes the member list.

I wonder if that will improve it, or if they've already got a list of members.

EDIT: Of course they can get a list of members in other places too, just browsing the forums and who's posted, etc, but we'll see if this makes any difference.
