Hey everybody! I'm Mike, aka 'TheScorpion', the General Manager of the New York Islanders, and I'm incredibly happy to be bringing back one of the CPHL's most time-honoured traditions: the Calgarypuck Hockey League Awards. This has been done with both the blessings of Hurricanes GM Hanna Sniper, who previously handled this thread, and Wild GM and commissioner JiriHrdina.
There will be nine different awards handed out this year. Here's a brief rundown of each award.
The
Cliff Fletcher Award: presented to the league's best General Manager in 2016-17.
The
Doug Risebrough Award: presented to the General Manager determined to have made the worst trade(s) over the course of the 2016-17 season.
The
D'Arcy McGrath Award: presented to the General Manager adjudged to be the best message board poster.
The
Darryl Sutter Award: presented to the league's best rookie General Manager.
The
Lanny McDonald Award: presented to the player deemed to be the Calgarypuck Hockey League's MVP.
The
Sergei Pryakhin Award: presented to the player determined to be the Calgarypuck Hockey League's most underrated player.
The
Roman Turek Award: presented to the player who is the most egregiously overpaid relative to his contributions.
The
Gary Suter Award: presented to the Calgarypuck Hockey League's best defenseman.
The
Mike Vernon Award: presented to the Calgarypuck Hockey League's best goaltender.
BALLOTING (PLEASE READ):
Ok, here's how this is going to work. All 28 GMs need to send me a ballot with their Top-3 picks for each of the above awards by
Sunday, June 11th. That's eight days from now. For each award, I'm going to need ballots looking like this.
Suter Award
1. Dennis Wideman
2. Dan Girardi
3. Martin Marincin
That's just an example, but you get the idea. 1st-place votes are worth 10 points, 2nd-place votes are worth 7 points, 3rd-place votes are worth 5 points, 4th-place votes are worth 3 points, and 5th-place votes are worth 1 point.
The ballots will be created by a Google Form, which will be up by 10:00 AM today.
Once again, I want as many ballots as possible by next Sunday. That's eight days, so even if you're busy on seven of those days you can still find some time. Don't spend hours figuring this out, it's supposed to be fun!!
Happy offseason!
