Episode 137: Do We Buy or Do We Sell?

Six weeks from the 2017 NHL Trade Deadline, we look ahead to if we think the Flames will be buyers or sellers at the deadline – and what they have for sale, and need to buy.

Dan and Matt talk about the Flames young players and where they fit into the lineup going forward. Will Monahan and Gaudreau get paired up again? Does Matthew Tkachuk stay with Frolik and Backlund next year? Where does that leave Sam Bennett?

And we look ahead at the next week of Flames action, and what we can expect for the rest of January.

Episode 138: What The Heck Happened?

“What the heck happened?” is the question on the minds of the C of Red this week. We recap last week’s games and try to find out what’s going on and how we remedy it. In the first of a three part series looking ahead to next year’s roster the guys predict which players we may see on the Flames blueline next season. Would you bring in Claude Julien if he becomes available? How about resign GM Brad Treliving next season? The guys give their answers to those questions, answer listener questions – and more!

Episode 139: Fear of Failure

After being called out by coach Glen Gulutzan, who said the team has a “fear of failure”, the Flames responded back with a good game against the Senators. Will they be able to keep the momentum going after the All-Star Break? The guys debate if TJ Brodie and Mark Giordano need to be together to be effective, or if we just need to find them new partners – and debate if Mark Giordano is still the right Captain and leader for the Flames.

Looking ahead to next year the Flames have only a few Unrestricted Free Agents. Should they be resigned, or is there a better UFA we should bring in? Listen to our predictions for what the roster might look like next year.

Episode 140: Back On Track Before The Bye Week?

As the Flames wind down for the bye week we look back at the last week of Flames hockey and debate if the Flames are back on track after a rough end of January. We also continue our series looking at the Flames UFA situation – this time in net and wonder if Scott Darling should be the Flames best UFA acquisition. Is it time for the Flames to change their Goaltending Coach? Goalies seem to decline or stay stagnant under Jordan Sigalet – is it time we find someone else to work with the next crop of goalies?

Looking at the schedule ahead we analyze how the Flames have to do to stay in a playoff hunt as w push towards the Trade Deadline.

Episode 141: New Faces On The Blueline

After a week off, we’re back and focusing on the Flames news of the last few weeks. We spend most of the show talking about the two newest Calgary Flames – Matt Bartkowski and Michael Stone – and what they bring to the organization, as well as what their acquisitions means for existing blueliners. Have the Flames found their legit #4 defenceman in Stone? Is he worth resigning past his rental? Plus we compare Tkachuk’s rookie season to Monahan, Gaudreau and Bennett and see who wins in what categories.

Episode 143: 7 Wins And Counting

The Flames are riding high on a 7 game winning streak that sees them firmly planted in the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. What has changed for the Flames to pull off this streak and what do the Flames need to do to keep it alive? How does the team bounce back after they eventually lose? We look forward to the post season and debate who the Flames ideal opponent would be, as well as our thoughts on the Curtis Lazar acquisition and some of the debated changes from the General Manager's meeting.

Episode 144: 10 In A Row!

You can’t touch a Flame when it’s red hot! Riding high on a 10 game winning streak we take a deeper look at the Flames over the past week including the injuries to Dougie Hamilton and Michael Stone, and why the Flames played Dennis Wideman over Rasmus Andersson as a fill in. We debate Sam Bennett’s future with the Flames and what his next contract will look like.

If the Flames make the playoffs, should Glen Gulutzan be considered for the NHL Jack Adams Award? Dan will make his case as to why he should.

Episode 145: Moose!
The win streak is over, but the Flames are still red hot! The Flames are one of the few teams that hasn’t gone into a run after a 2 digit win streak this season.

In a short episode, the guys sound off on their thoughts over the Tkachuk elbow and what the discipline should be, Curtis Lazar’s Flames debut and how he looked and our thoughts on Brian Elliott tieing Mike Vernon’s franchise record for consecutive wins.

Just listened to Episode 144. I think you got "Brass Bonanza" and "Red Hot" reversed in the recording... :P "Brass Bonanza" was played first and "Red Hot" was played at the end.

Episode 150: 2017 Entry Draft Preview

We're back for our 5th annual NHL Entry Draft Preview episode. With the Flames not having a second or third round pick at the time of recording, the Flames will have to be smart with the few picks they do have.

We'll profile a handful of players we think the Flames could take at 16 overall, and look at their recent record of late round draft picks - and look at what type of players we hope the Flames take in the late rounds this year.

Listen To Episode 151: A Busy Week of Surprising Changes

It’s been a busy week for the Calgary Flames and GM Brad Treliving. The NHL Entry Draft, the Expansion Draft, new jerseys, and the Flames acquiring goalie Mike Smith and Defenceman Travis Hamonic to fill two big holes in the lineup.

The Flames have mortgaged a big part of their draft future going forward, and have officially put themselves into “win now” mode. Did they pay too much for these two players? How do the new kids we drafted look? The guys will break down all these moves and discuss what it means for the future of the franchise.
