Sucks for them but their other option was to struggle to make the playoffs with AHL level goaltending. It's like if the Flames had Hiller and Ramo signed long-term. You'd be begging for Brad to do something about it.

Could you imagine all the hair pulling out in Dallas if Bishop has another down season?

The Stars have a pretty underwhelming defence group, and not a lot of scoring depth beyond the top line. It is a pretty big difference from playing behind LA's stifling shot-suppression system and TB's group of blueliners. The hope will be that Hitchcock can help to mitigate the weaknesses in the lineup, but with how Bishop played in LA last year I think there is some legitimate concern about how he fares in the WC and playing for the Stars.

Hate to bring this up... but how old is he, how have his numbers been lately, and would be accept a backup role?

I would bring Nemi in only if he took 1 year 1-1.5M.

3.30 GAA last year, 0.892 sv% last year
Might be all he can get so probably. Had pretty good stats with the Sharks but started to struggle towards the end of his time there and was pretty bad in Dallas his entire time there so maybe he just needs a change of scenery. That said, I feel there's better options out there.

He was probably the worst goalie in the NHL last year. His time in the league is likely done.

Hitchcock is a sound coach and I'm expecting the Stars to see a huge improvement under him this coming season.

Well then, I guess the Stars are anti-Niemi.

Yep. I would think the Stars will be back in the playoff mix next season meaning one of this year's western conference teams won't be making the cut next year.

I actually expect the Preds to be in tough... and the Sharks to miss out... maybe even the Blues.

The answer, of course, is the Oilers.
