No one is sure what it means or exactly where it came from, it gained traction as 'weed day' as a massive public protest against prohibition and as an excuse for stoners to crawl out from the shadows and celebrate what they love.

One thing people should be happy with regarding it's impending legalization is the slow death of 420 as an activist event. Was reading yesterday Vancouver's traditional main spot to hold 420 rallies was quite down in attendance this year, and featured way more vendors. I guess why hold an activist event when you already know it's about to be legalized.
