That's the great thing about equal rights, they can do and feel what they want. So no, even if they "want" equal rights and are offended, they still get and deserve equal rights.

Equal rights was the wrong term.
I meant if they want to get rid of the "Us and Them" divide.

Thanks for the advice.
Humor is one of those things strictly attached to the straight-gene. We often need straight people to explain which jokes are OK and which we can find distasteful.
When we laugh, we're just laughing with you. We have no idea when something is funny. Don't tell anyone I revealed our secret.

Ummm equal rights doesn't mean they can't be offended by a joke.
For example, women can be offended by sexist jokes.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 25 times, I think I like this a little bit more than I originally thought I would.

This coming from people who base their lives off the wisdom of desert dwellers who lived 2000-6000 years ago and have an imaginary friend.

Which is also stupid.
They're jokes. Being offended by any joke is dumb so long as they're jokes and not full out hate speech veiled as jokes.

Something is stupid alright, but I'm not sure it's that.
Jokes are funny or at least make light of a situation, they don't offend.
If someone is offended by a "joke" it's likely not a good joke and they have a right to be offended by it.

It's okay to admit that you've been playing the longest game of Bronze Age Telephone in history.

In regards to OP, people have to realize that instances like this have a certain inflationary effect where the actions of one or two seem to, but do not really, speak for the whole.
I am not completely convinced that evangelical Christians hold entirely backward views on homosexuals, etc... but who knows, the culture war rhetoric is flaring up again all over.
A number of my close friends and relatives are gay men, and I have found that as I mature, the boundaries of sexual identity and preference really seem to fade away into a common human understanding. I feel that is the way it is for most people. Of course, there are always people on both sides willing to sacrifice their humanity for the sake of a little publicity or whatever.

This group of Evangelical Christians Thinks being gay is a mental illness. What do they need to do, beat one up and leave him to die tied up to a fence?
