Game takes - Heckle XIV - 8-2 CP.

On the line: Bragging rights. Opportunity to retake the lead in the all time Heckle series.

Pregame report:
CP smartly avoids the risk of being caught on an all-5 line change by dressing only one spare.

Oilfans come in to the game on the second day of a back to back, with the Heckle XIV 10 am start coming quickly after a late night Oilers playoff win.

The flow:
Perhaps a sharp start by CP, perhaps Oilfans feeling the after effects of last night's contest, CP takes advantage, driving the play and out shooting Oilfans, getting an early one and ending the first up 3-0.

Tighter second period. Stripes kept it fair. Just one penalty to the Oilfans in the second on a high stick. CP Powerplay did not convert, but did avoid a shorty from the Oilfans PK. CP adds one to make it 4-0 after 2.

Oilfans pressing in the third and manage to get one early. Stretching out the D and trying for the stretch pass on a few occasions but some good reads and CP sticks intercept. CP added a couple, then after a second Oilfans goal made it 6-2, notched the insurance goal to make it 7-2.

Within the last couple of minutes, Oil threw out the old 'next goal wins' and CP was able to notch the, um, winner with about 4 seconds left.

Final score 8-2 for the good guys.

Honourable mention to the 8 year old kid from Penhold who came to the CP bench between periods, confirmed he was cheering for the good guys, and chirped the Oilfans and the ref

All time record updated:
CP 7-5-2
Oilfans 6-6-2

(Each team has one tie, and one OT or shootout loss)

That's hilarious. Great write up, just wish we had footage lol. Speaking of footage, where is the guy who GoPro'd last years game?
