You would think, but that is what Norm referred to, maybe he saw HighQ first, this one might have come later, either way you can see why they took the idea, terrific stuff.

Jacks is right. Norm's full set of tweets discussing this are unified here. Great read regardless.

They wanted Celebrity Jeopardy. Higgins had two funny categories already figgered. I came up with the idea of Celebrity Jeopardy years ago by stealing it, note for note, from an SCTV classic, Half-Wits. Higgins and I co-wrote the first one years ago and I waited for Martin Short to host so I could ask permission to steal. He said that Eugene Levy had written the original. We received permission and beside Darrel and I, the talented Mr. Short played Jerry Lewis.

One of the funniest skit comedy shows on TV.

Mostly because of the charm of the cast and their ability to just be completely zanny.

He's retired from everything but country music. But he walked away from acting after the death of his wife from breast cancer to focus on his family.

Martin Short was on Colbert last night, and the host described him as the best talk show guest of all time.

He dated Gilda Radner back in the Toronto days of Second City.

It's unclear if the new special is just going to be a reunion documentary or actually new comedy content.

Either way, Scorsese seems like an odd choice.

Scorsese is likely a fan. And he has a long history of making documentaries about pop culture stuff he loves (the Band, George Harrison, the Grateful Dead).

You Probably Didn't Watch SCTV, But It Shaped the Comedy You Love Today

Netflix is reuniting its famous cast for a Martin Scorsese-directed documentary.

I though I read that Rick Moranis wasn’t retired. He isn’t just very selective about stuff he is doing now. I am surprised this isn’t something he would want to be attached to. Maybe it’s going to be a surprise?

Moranis just doesn't do the acting thing anymore, He did a benefit where he reuninted with Dave Thomas to do a Bob and Doug McKenzie skit. But other then that he put his family first after his wife died.

I also read an interview that he basically hated doing movies and TV shows.

Speaking of Rick Moranis, I read an article about the making of “Streets of Fire”, one of his earliest movies. Michael Pare played the macho lead character and it sounds like Moranis was pretty merciless to Pare. I’m paraphrasing but Pare said something along the lines of “if it was real life and Moranis made fun of me that much, he’d get a beating”. Something like that.
