The best part of the AV club review:

I was only able to watch a minute of the first episode before realizing Stephanie's boobs just aren't worth it.

My wife put on a couple episodes last night, my god the cringe.

It's bad source material to begin with (seriously, the original run is best left to memory, it's bad), but now they've fallen into the Big Bang Theory technique of making references instead of jokes.

"Hey guys, uber! iPhone! Emoji!"

*Laugh track*

"Have mercy!"

I rammed through the whole thing. I'm trying to quit smoking and for some reason I gravitated to net flix.

Ok, it wasn't good, it wasn't good at all.

First and foremost, almost every episode had a dance number. But Stephanie is pretty impressive at that, and her breasts are enormous.

We didn't have a lot of the old cast members from the adult side, they'd pop in and pop out.

Ok

The good

Stephanies boobs.

Kimmie, is the ultimate miff, and the funniest of the three

DJ is very cute, then she talks and her voice makes me want to eat a bullet

The middle son. That kid is actually very funny.

Some of the throw away lines to explain the missing Michelle were very funny.

The bad

As I saw above, the humor was really forced.

Joey is still really not funny, not funny at all and then he's like that sad failing celebrity in that he pulls out that puppet, or fires off a joke and then looks sadly at the screen like a dog begging for attention.

They intentionally tried to do throw away emotional things, clearly going after the nostalgic in the audience.

DJ's husband died, but then midway through the year she's practically having a really gross three way with two guys.

Stephanie can't have kids and she's broke and she's a pathetic ex party person. I think they were trying to mimic her real life story, which would have probably made a more interesting series.

Anyways.

For some reason, to me Andrea Barber is probably the most talented one on the show. But they even wrote her poorly.

Overall, terrible terrible TV with no bright spot but nice breasts.

I watched the first episode and it was so painfully bad that I won't bother to watch the rest.

I honestly don't know what people were expecting from this show.

To me, it seems like a very self aware parody of the original. I found it relatively entertaining. I don't think any of the cast are taking it overly seriously or think that it's "good" television. It's meant to be a fun and slightly twisted throw back.

I watched the first two episodes and will probably watch a few more.

I watched the whole season this weekend with my wife, I enjoyed it. I don't think that Males age 20-50 are the target audience. And yea it was pretty corny with some parts I had trouble getting through.

But, you can tell that the cast really enjoyed themselves and it had that old TGIF feeling, heck I just realized I even watched a good chunk of it on Friday, total throw back!

I watched this show a lot as a kid, it was comforting for me to see another family that had a single parent and I identified with that. I definitely had my own versions of Uncle Jesse and Uncle Joey guiding me, so for that this show, or any iteration of it, will always get my approval.

I thought, wrongly, that it might have changed somehow. Maybe they would have gone the way of some remakes and made it funny in some campy or ironic way. There was none of that here. It was still, sincerely saccharine craptastic television. There are no redeeming qualities.

The acting is either mailed in or just horrible. The writing looks to have come from some edgy Sunday school teacher who doesn't know how to write. I dislike commenting on actors/actresses appearances, but I am not seeing the appeal there, either.

Whatever joy I had before watching was wiped. It was like when Harry Potter met the Dementors. Every moment felt like that.

You might think this is a lot of hyperbole, but it's not. It is that awful of a show. Awful, awful, awful.

Man it's full house. What do people expect? The show was based on cheesy comedy and hugs. The new one is more updated but it follows the Full House formula which I like. It's not for everyone but if you grew up watching Full House it is decent and brings back memories of TGIF.

Wow. I was fully expecting this to be Netflix's first major bust.

Ya I really don't get it, are people trying to hold a TGIF show up to the same standards as Modern Family or Spotlight?

Very confused lol. A show based on cheesy old school family values with some references to modern technology and media. That is what I expected, that is what I got.

The budget/production values are clearly well below modern standards. The actors they've used are also bad, which was the standard back in the sitcom era. You had bad actors delivering canned lines to canned laughter.

The only way to make the show "good" (Modern Family type quality), would be to use an entirely new cast and change the sets, filming, etc...

Enough people probably tuned in out of curiosity to make it worthwhile for Netflix. I can't imagine that Kimmy Gibbler was demanding big bucks to appear. Stamos and Sagat are the only two parties resembling "stars", and they seem to be involved in more of a cameo type role.
