I've bitten the bullet and am going to park my trailer for a year and see if that style of camping suits me. Saturday morning I'm hauling it down to a campground in Idaho I've frequented and we'll use the 5th wheel as a cabin based outside Bonners Ferry.
If you don't mind me asking - where are you staying?
I've been toying with the idea of finding somewhere to park our 5th wheel as well, and got to thinking about having it down south as an option.
If I were to look for one of these on kijiji what would it be called? Looked for hard top tent trailer and that didn't work.
Saw one in a neighbours yard thought it looked better than the traditional tent trailer.
Just out of curiousty what's your main attraction here? Is it the hard top yet foldable side of things? I might know of someone selling one that folds, but it is all hard walled/topped. It has everything basically and extends to about 30 feet, but at the same time you can pull it with a Dodge Dakota kind of thing (legally!), so that part is pretty awesome. Anyway, just wondering what you're after here.
As a fairly tall guy, I'd only be able to stand in the exact middle.
Haha congratulations for you.

How is it more aerodynamic? Wouldn't they both be about the same when folded up?

Hard top, hard sides. Certainly more durable than a tent trailer, heating, AC. And fits pretty much anywhere vs a 17ft tent trailer that still needs a 30ft site to unfold.
Not overly interested in a travel trailer just thought they were neat. Thinking of something a little more durable/comfortable than tenting but still minimal.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good portable Bluetooth (or not I suppose) spreaker for camping? I've bought a few over the years and they all suck. Not looking to spend a fortune but I'm willing to spend enough so I won't have to buy another.
I would recommend the Bose Soundlink Colour. Its small, water resistant and has great sound. I think they're roughly $140 and are rechargeable. The battery seems to last a long time as well.

The last time I was in Costco they had a set of two wireless outdoor speakers for $169. They looked like camping lights but had a speaker inside (durable) that used bluetooth. I don't think they are available online. They looked great and I wouldn't be surprised if they sold out as people were buying them.
If you're looking for sound quality Bose is probably the best though

I take my JBL pulse, good battery, and always popular while camping.

That's when you pull out the propane firepit... YMMV with conservation officers though... In theory since you're not burning wood, and the flame is controlled (so instant on/off) - it's no different than a propane stove.
Picked this up for my mom for Christmas. She wanted something small for in the kitchen. After hearing it I bought another one for a gift and one for myself (found them on sale at the Source for $60). Tiny little speaker, good sound though. It goes everywhere with me, just throw it in my carry-on. Taking it camping next weekend.
I have a propane fire for when I can't burn wood. Sometimes the don't even allow the propane fire so make sure to check first. Sometimes they say that only devices that are enclosed flames are allowed and are specific on propane fires too. Save a ticket and always check.

+1 for the UE Boom. It is splash proof, shock proof, and the battery life is great.

Hey camping enthusiasts, my girlfriend and I are looking to get a decent tent.
Any suggestions for a good tent for $200-250?
Probably looking for a three person tent minimum, so we have a bit of space.
Weight isn't a huge concern, as we'll be doing car camping 98% of the time.
I have done some looking myself, but I'm not sure what brands are reputable.

Might want to expand your budget a tad but take a look at the MEC Tarn or Wanderer series. 2 person can be done for sub-250. 3 person is a little north of that. They have vestibules though so that helps space-wise a bit.
