When asked if he thought it was tacky to replace iconic Canadian symbols with ads, Singh responded, "I can assure you these ads will be done tastefully. For example, Delta Airlines has expressed interest in replacing the Bluenose on our dime with an image of one of their planes."

I took a tour of the mint in Winnipeg a couple years ago which was quite enjoyable. One thing I hadn't realized was that the Canadian mint makes money for many other countries! Although maybe its not as profitable these days.

Would be funny though. And honestly the promotional coins they do are basically like advertising. It is for profit licensing.

Ironically, ThisisThat is right, just not now the joke plays out. Virtually everything you see on mint.ca is advertising. One of the reasons they produce all the fancy collector coins is to show off their technical ability to potential customers: i.e.: other nations that don't wish to produce their own currency.
