We'll see what happens, but I would be pretty happy with any of those trades. Which is why I doubt any of them are on the table, at least right now.

Thank god the Athletic posted those because no one here would get away with posting them without getting lynch mobbed.

Maybe expectations should be ..elevated?

Crazy prices have been paid on deadline day and will be again.

Could teams pay more? Yes. Will they? Right now, no.

You have to hope a team gets desperate after missing out on their first or second choice. But you can't assume that's going to happen and be left holding the bag.

Why do you assume Lindholm isn't anybody's first or second choice?

If Vancouver trades Hoglander they're idiots, he is playing great for them and the chemistry he has in not replaceable.
Lindholm is better player but I don't see Vancouver getting better with Lindholm over Hoglander.
Vancouver success is due just as much to their top lines as their 3rd and 4th.
Like it or lump it the Canucks have the best 3rd line in hockey and their 4th line is top 3 in league.

I think putting it the way I did is a bit of a poor way of explaining it. It doesn't have to be a team's first or second choice, but they have to not have other options out there.

What I was trying to communicate is you have to hope a team feels a squeeze while also a desperation to make a move. Then your price can go up, but you may reach a point that there is no one to make a deal with if you wait.

I think Hoglander is not going to be moved for a rental. It's going to be someone off the roster going with Kuzmenko (and not necessarily to the same team anymore).

Just when I think expectations should be tempered, a respectable outlet like The Athletic with respectable writers like Pronman/McKenzie comes up with something like this ... I don't think we can get this kind of value, but if we can get even close to this, then you take it and run.

Boston for me. Poitras is going to be really good, and Frederic is a useful (and still youngish) piece as well. Pushing the 1st to 25 wouldn't be an issue if we can add 24 picks for Hanifin and/or Tanev ... could actually be a good thing to spread the picks over multiple years.

I like that Dallas offer too, Bourque is a nice prospect. Don't like the Winnipeg one.

This is a tough one.

Boston: No, becuase I want Forida back in the finals.
Colorado: Yes, because I also want COL in the finals.
Dallas: No, becuase F Dallas and their Cup they didn't win.
Vancouver: Yes, because of how funny it would be if Van won the Cup "out of nowhere" instead of ENG.
Vegas: No, becuase F Vegas even worse than Dallas (also, get lost with your 2nd insted of a 1st).
Winnipeg: Yes, becuase WPG will be the first one eliminated out of this list, so they'd have the best 1st of the bunch.

Those are my ulterior responses for each offer. In terms of the prospects themselves though...

Bourque is probably the best one? Although, Rene ruined that name for me (not to mention Ray himself, before Game 7).

Edit: It should be noted that I view adding Lindholm as immediately elevating either of those teams to "Cup Favourite" (as long as he's added to their current roster without subtracting from their other main pieces).

Good to have this well of knowledge here with bugs on every GMs phone lines to tell us what's going on with teams and what they will pay/when.

I'm sorry that the likely outcome of current events does not line up with your expectations and hopes. Having said that I can see how you might think a GM will lose their ####ing mind for a brief moment and pay a premium for a UFA who clearly wants to test the market while also having one of their worst years at the NHL level.

I suck at trade proposals and I dont always know prospects, but how does Vegas, an intra-divisional team get away with being the only ones to offer a 2nd?

Either way, I'm glad the discussion is being had.

Trade. Him.

Do not sign Lindholm to 8 years of anything.

He's been a great soldier, by all accounts a wonderful teammate and community member and he has the greatest middle-name of all time...but this team needs....something, and he ain't it and Treliving pooched the salary structure to hell and back.

These teams have seen Lindholm play the past 2 months right? Almost every one of those proposals are overpayments so yes to any of them.

I'm sorry but in my eyes, at the moment, as long as we're not the ones who sign him to 8 x $10M whatever we get for him is going to be a home run.

I'm not as versed on prospects, but that Vancouver deal would be something.

The Dallas and Colorado deals also seem mighty appealing.

I think a 1st, a prospect and a player is an absolute win for Lindholm. I think it is very likely what he gets. I am just pushing back on people who are expecting more for him.

Every single one of the deals proposed in the article are reasonable. Some are a bit better, some are a bit worse but they're all in the spot where I expect the deal to get done.

Agree...I think the most unlikely thing in those deals is probably the roster piece in some cases.

Guys like O'Connor, and Frederic are good pieces for those teams...not sure they want to move pieces like that before a playoff run.
