He has 2 gold medals and is in the twilight of his career, what act does he need to get together? He certainly won't be trying to make the 2018 team.

Spezza deserved the invite too. IMO he is a much bigger omission then Benn.

I really don't want to turn this into an Iginla thread.
All I meant is that I think he has a lot more to give than he showed last season and in the playoffs. Despite getting old, he is still in phenomenal shape. I think he needs to reinvent himself to remain effective, rather than just coast into the twilight of his career.

Little surprised Justin Schultz didn't get invite to Can Oly camp as puck-mover with 27 pts as rookie.

He was very effective last year and doesn't need to re-invent himself at all.
There is some revisionist history about Iginla's season last year for some reason or people just expect way too much out of a 34 year old player that was a power forward much of his career.

Longshots to make the team, but I'm surprised to not see Ward or Brodeur on the camp roster.

Surprised Holtby got the invite over Ward. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see Bouwmeester make the team though as his game would translate well to the big ice.

I imagine Ward's injury has a lot to do with that. The goaltenders will almost certainly come down to who is playing well over the first half of the season more than anything else.

Crosby, still the best player in the world.

Crosby.
On this team more than anything else the captain is going to be ceremonial. Crosby has been talking to media his whole life and is the best player in the world.
Toews can "lead" the team just fine if need be with an A or nothing on his jersey.
My Guess would be Crosby C with Staal, Toews, Keith, Boyle rotating A's.

Our goaltending is quite suspect. Besides that we have a pretty good team. Far from a lock for Gold though.

Methot is very under-rated. Think Regher in his prime, the guy skates well and plays a good shutdown game. You need to have a mix, don't think he beats out the top 6 tho.
