Do you think a 5 year old laptop, Intel Core 2 Duo (2.00Ghz), 2GB ram, would do fine? I forget what the video card is, 1400x or something.

I'll see if I can find a cheap copy of Star Craft 1.

Got my beta key friday and been playing pretty heavily with a friend of mine.

Last two games, we've been fighting against serious cheese.

Game 1) 6pool + double gateway @ 10

Game 2) proxy forge + cannons (should've won this, we found the forge early, but failed)

We're just near the top in gold 2v2, and I'm just surprised that this is all people do at relatively higher skill levels. Games rarely last more than 10 minutes, because they go all-in, and then if we are able to beat the rush or counter effectively, they leave.

It's a lot of fun, but I still feel like it could use some tweaks.

There were stations at the comic book festival that were running this game. It looks great! I didn't get to sit down and play it, though I'm sure my gf would have loved standing there for 20 mins while I gave it a go :P

Blizzard has historically made their games a step below the current optimum gaming machine specifications. They do this on purpose to widen their audience... their graphics will suffer a bit compared to most games, but they will still look great and the gameplay will be vastly, vastly superior.

This is why I have been a loyal Blizzard customer for so many years, as you can tell from my extensive Ultima Online experience, I have always been about game play over graphics. Lots of companies forget about this.

I wouldn't be overly worried about your system as long as it is CLOSE to these settings, it will run it. Graphics card is your biggest concern, then it is making sure your computer doesn't kill itself trying to run those cards.

Gamestop and EB Games are giving out physical beta keys with pre-orders. The EB in Westbrook is all out at the moment, but they still have plenty in the Chinook branch.

I ordered on Sunday, still nothing from Future Shop with a beta key, or an explanation of why my beta key has taken so long.

Pretty ridiculous. Handled very poorly. The demand must just be insane though, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and hopefully I have my key soon.

I ordered on Monday and still haven't gotten mine, however my friend who ordered his about an hour after me from future shop as well got his yesterday morning. Unjust.
