Good for Gilles to get a look at the bigs! (even if it is from the bench)

This will be good for him even from the sidelines.

I had a feeling this would happen. I thought Montreal gambled last week by not calling up an extra goalie and having Price back up his team when he was too ill to sit on the bench. I'm glad BT didn't take that risk.

It'll be interesting to see if he sits on the bench tonight and gets a first hand view, or stays in the press box/locker room. Either way it'll be nice for him to get an NHL paycheck and to be able to see/meet the team up close.

Oh, and welcome back 3 headed goalie monster!!

Would it be an emergency call up? Do goalies even count towards your post trade deadline call up limit?

It should be an emergency call up assuming Elliott is too sick to dress, Flames should confirm it soon. Goalies do count towards post trade deadline call up limit.

Good. Last thing you want at this time is for disease to work it's way around the locker room. Stay Home, Eat, Drink, Sleep, Get Better... then come back to work.

It would have been interesting in the Habs game if they had called in a backup, given the pummeling Montoya took. Would they have yanked Montoya for a rookie?

Perfect way to introduce a young goalie to the big league. Sit on the bench and soak it all in and let him really get that hunger to play the next time he's called upon.

Haven't followed the heat at all this year, how has he looked? Numbers seem a bit meh.

On the bench? I don't imagine that his performance opening and closing the gate will be anything spectacular. If Gillies is in fact dressed, he is not going to start.

Well obviously I know he's not going to start.
The dramatic story line for the franchise as the team sets the consecutive wins record with a goalie making his NHL debut would be something to see.

Interesting that Gillies gets the call-up. He's just there to warm the bench but Rittich who has been outstanding all year doesn't get a sniff of the NHL. It could be that the organization would rather have him getting starts in the AHL because they're in a battle to make the playoffs. But then, Gillies has been given the starter role all-season on about a 60-40 split despite Rittich out-performing him. I get that Gillies is the guy we invested into and may still be projected to be the better NHL keeper but I wonder what Rittich's future is with the club and what he would have to do to prove himself.

That's pretty risky when the team has a chance of both finishing first in the division and finishing out of the playoffs.

Has he?

I have not been paying close attention but was under the impression that he was extremely good in his first 10–15 games or so, but has cooled considerably since then.

Nice that I'm confident in Rittich for the Heat as well.

They have a game tonight as well

Can someone comment on how Gillies is this year? I was under the impression that Rittich outplayed him this season so far. If it's developmentally related shouldn't Rittich be called up and warm the bench instead of Gillies?
