Yes, let's use unfounded speculation to say GG is unhappy with Bennett, despite GG's constant public praising of Bennett.

He's a 2nd year pro, 1st year centre and is playing the #3 centre spot on a team that is 2nd in the division. Looks pretty damn good to me.

Since it was such a weak call I'll go with the latter.

As for the original question Bennett is a classic player to have patience with. All the skills, just needs time to put it all together. Still very young, he's going to be a great player. If he has to simmer on the 3rd line for another year or two so be it.

Enforcer. He'll be useless when fighting is gone from the game...

The kid is going to be awesome. He's a really well rounded player s d it's showing more and more.

I can't wait to see the 2017 playoffs Sam Bennett - I think he will be a force!

Angry Bennett is awesome. Think he'll become a real impact player down the road, just have to be a bit patient. Having Monahan and Backlund is a blessing in that regard.

Teams must really hate playing against the Flames right now, basically every line can potentially get under the other team's skin. If the 3m line is out there, Tkachuk pisses them off. After a line change, they face Bennett who pisses them off. Another line change, and now it's Ferland who pisses them off. And then there's still the 4th line, which would be even better with Hathaway on there. Nasty team to play against for sure, and I absolutely love it.

Think he just needs to get a bit stronger and grow into his frame. Monahan and Tkachuk were both pretty well filled out when they got to the Flames. Bennett is still skinny. Give him some PP time and his point total would be higher but he's not in that role yet.

Put Lazar on his line, those two will create havoc.

Depending on how things shake up through the off season and training camp I'd like to see Tkachuk and Bennet together. Can't take Tkachuk off his current line but maybe go with..

Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Bennett - Lazar
Jankowski - Backlund - Frolik
Bouma - Stajan - Brouwer

Backlund - Frolik is such a good line of a rookie to settle in with. Don't think Jankowski will be harmed riding wing for a season and allows Tkachuk and Bennet to form as a pair and step up in responsibility.

Anywho I have lots of faith in Bennet and really believe in the kid. He wasn't the biggest kid when drafted so his size and feisty play has had to play catch up but I love the bully d-head game is working it's way back in, he's tough as nails.

As for Gulutzen being upset last night.. Obvious he was upset at the weakness of the call IMO

Burke just said last week Sam played his best game as a pro. Future is bright.

Makes zero sense to beeak up the most consistent line that has produced offensively and plays tough minutes.

Not this season, next.

And I don't think you're wrong but perhaps Tkachuk and Bennett are ready to carry a line themselves, leaving a spot for another rookie on Backlund and Frolik's left side.

This is what I would like to see as well, but in this instance I'd think about putting Frolik on the left wing and throwing Lazar on the right wing of that line to give him some of the Backs/Fro juju.

Tkatchuk - Bennett - Brouwer/Versteeg (depending on expansion draft & UFA signings etc)
Frolik - Backlund - Lazar

Doesnt matter. Until they stop producing you dont break up your most successful line.

Brower wont be playing the 4th lines. and Janks is a natural centre with size. Bennet needs to learn to use the rest of his team mates vs doing it all on himself. I have questions and concerns if he is going ot turn into what we all hope he will.

I think as all the other posters stated we need to be patient, I think he has it within him to be a bigger contributor. he needs better line mates, so off season will be interesting. with Janks up and coming wouldn't surprise me for Bennett to get some wing time, get that confidence going. imagaine if we can get our top 3 lines goin, that's the next step on this journey

none of us predicted we would be where we are not, lets just enjoy the ride and pray for a Oiler/Flames playoff series, that would be the ultimate with us kicking their ass

A line to teach rookies? Interesting way to develop players
into top 6 roles.

Give him better wingers and some powerplay time and I think he'll flourish next year. First unit is cold right now, why not try him out.

Really have to figure out a better third line for the playoffs

Lots of people earlier on including me were concerned that the team played too soft.
Enter Sam Bennett and the team is becoming hard to play against. Guys are jumping in
together whenever there is a scrum in front of the net. Tkachuk pissing people off but keeps doing what he is doing the rest of the game. Even Backlund has been playing with a driven snarly edge.
