Waivers take a day, so I guess the only other options were to send Bennett to the AHL or Tkachuk back to Junior

Didnyounjustbstart cheering for the team when you joined this forum? Were you not a fan during the insufferable Jay Feaster era or the end of the Sutter days? Button?

This Flames management group has been far from frustrating. Wideman has a NMC, Jokipakka would have to be waived. Hathaway will be back very soon if you ask me

I was surprised to see that Hathaway has the worst CF% of anyone to play for the Flames this season except Shinkaruk.

Steinberg tweeted out yesterday as per cba if you trade for a player and it puts you over the roster max you can place a player on waivers and designate them a non roster player so I didn't have to be hathaway, just the easiest player in terms of paper work and what not.

The player still does require waivers though.

And in terms of asset management ahead of the trade deadline I would rather be able to potentially trade Bouma, Hamilton, or Jokipakka for a late pick then lose them for free on waivers.

This is a big whatever, I agree. I prefer Hathaway to Hamilton or Bouma, and I wouldn't be bothered if we lost either of the latter for nothing as I really don't think they have any value. But let's see what happens as I expect Hathaway will be back.

It's not a Byron situation. I always believed he showed a lot as a Flames and was never happy to lose him.

Yupp still need waivers and I agree this was the best choice but people saying it was the only choice aren't right, they could have put someone on waivers and designated them non roster to close off the 24 hour problem

Maybe Hathaway will light a fire on the Stockton dung heap.

I love Lance but you have to think he gets waived soon no?

Aside from being a better pk man, Hathaway is everything you want Lance bouma to be at 1/3 the price

I doubt it. You leave him exposed and wait for Vegas to pick him up, but you don't expose him to waivers in the middle of a season and lose him when Hathaway can be sent down and retained.

I know this is off topic but how many players off of one team can Vegas claim? Are they forced to pick a player off each team?

Vegas must and can only take one player from each team.

I believe so, yes. They can only take one player per team, but they must take a player from each team unless there has been a trade of other assets in lieu of the player prior to the draft.

I'm sure that sureLoss will correct me now.

edit: HA! sureLoss'd again!
