He wasn't at his best the season after in TB. But maybe it had something to do with a major injury like that.
There were many reports that the "major shoulder injury" was not very major at all.

As soon as it looked like the team wasn't playoff bound, he traded the Flames cap for the Titleist cap. Its rare for a professional athlete to broadcast his mindset like that.

Seems to be a common theme in this thread. Supposedly there are many news articles/reports lying around that tell tales of his whining, pouting and quitting. Now one that says his injury wasn't that bad.

Let's start seeing some of these 'reports'.

He owes Jarome Iginla the last 6 years of his salary.

When Montreal doesn't want to keep a francophone skilled player more than half a year, and then playing with top players and linemates in Tampa went nowhere the next year, he looked to be done.

Paired back with Iginla he lit it up again.

Good player when he was on, very good player. But was far too sensitive it seemed to criticism (recall Keenan wanted him to play more of a two way game and Tanguay basically said he wasn't paid to do that and rumors of wanting a trade) and then was useless without Iginla until he came back and then before and after Iginla was in Colorado.
