Default smoothie receipe exchange

So as part of the whole eating more healthy I've given up my morning coffee which is killing me in exchange for making a smoothie that I can drink while I drive to work.

I thought it would be a great idea to exchange some ideas.

I mean frankly all of mind have the same base and I usually make enough for a smoothie in the morning and then one for desert after dinner.

So my usual base

2 bananas
a cup of low fat yogurt
1% milk
either spinach or kale

So my fruit mixtures

Add strawberry's with the greens left on

or raspberry's and blackberrys

or pineapple

I also tend to add a shot of honey and some wheat germ as well.

all fruits have to be fresh no canned stuff.

I like to use kefir and milk more than yogourt. Give it a try if you want some variety. It is fantastic with raspberries or strawberries or pineapple.

For Strawberries, I like to add a little lime juice.

Pineapple, kefir and white rum is also pretty awesome.

Yours is really close to mine CC, I use a handful of frozen raspberries and blackberries, 2 of those smallish containers of vanilla yogurt, 1 banana and fill any empty space with spinach. Blend it up with a bullet blender.

Really quick and easy. Freakishly hard to consume on days like today.

I like the idea of adding some peanut butter, I'm gonna have to try that.

1.5 Cup of blueberries
Cup of Mixed fruit
Spinach (frozen)
2 cups of protein powder
Unsweetened Almond milk
Sometimes some natural peanut butter

This is in a big blender and my kids and wife and I all have some.

If for individual I go

yeah I learned a lesson last night, I'm pretty informal on my ingredient amounts. Usually I just try to fill my blender which will give me 2 to 3 smoothie.

But I over did it with the Kale last night, and boy was that smoothie bitter.

But because I was running low on fresh fruit last night I did a bizarre combination of Strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, banana with orange juice yogurt and milk and of course Kale

It was bitter but there was some potential there.

I've tried kale too and no matter how little kale you put in, it seems to overwhelm everything else. I prefer spinach.

When I am in a rush in the mornings I generally do:

3/4 cup oats
35g whey protein
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 small banana or a cup of mixed berries
ice cubes
1 teaspoon espresso

Gives me everything I need and a little kick to jump start the morning.

I'm trying to get into the routine of making a smoothie every morning before I leave for work. I got a Nutribullet over the weekend because I don't find the Vitamix is all the convenient to use/clean when you're crunched for time. It was great - I got the one that has the to-go lid you can just pop on after. I tried a variation of GL's recipe above:

1.5 cups unsweetened almond milk
3/4 cup of rolled oats
1 banana
a handful of blueberries
2 dates

It was pretty good, but I'm still trying to find the best mix.

Its weird because I find that blending Blueberries into Milk almost makes it too solid, I've used Blackberries.

I've also experimented with different fruits like Raspberry, Pineapple, Kiwi, obviously Strawberry.

I'd never thought of rolled oats, I must try this. But I make sure that every smoothie I make has a ton of a green vegetable in it, spinach or even kale.

I tried Saskatoon berries once, and I found they did the same thing. It made the smoothie almost jello-like. I'm going to try blackberries & raspberries tomorrow.

I've had fresh blueberries make my shake gelatinous, so I use frozen and haven't had that happen since.

I should try the frozen berry route, but I just like fresh fruit, but I stopped using Blueberries in anything with milk.

I've been told to try and blend coconut into smoothies too, my friend says it adds nice flavor to the banana.

My go-to smoothie recipe. Not the healthiest, but incredibly tasty:

3/4 c. frozen mixed berries
1/4 c. yogurt (not Greek)
3/8 c. milk
1 banana
1 tbsp honey

Total calories ~320
