GAME 16: Alouettes at STAMPEDERS
Game Time: Saturday, October 15th at 5:00pm
McMahon Stadium
Televised: TSN, ESPN3
This is the first game between Montreal Alouettes(4-10 last in the East and CFL) vs the powerful Calgary Stampeders(13-1-1 first in the CFL). Stampeders already clinched 1st place in the West and Montreal will not make the playoff (unofficially) so this is much a nothing game.
Montreal QB Rakeem Cato won his first game in the CFL against the Stampeders last season 29-11. Calgary cameback and win the game a month later.
A win by Stamps today will break the record for the most win by a rookie head coach in the history of the CFL. Dickenson is tied with Hufnagel and Benevides with the most win by a rookie head coach with 13 wins.
OFFENSE:
Stamps offense been hot early in the last few gaes. They pretty much scored at least a TD in their first offensive series in the game. QB Bo Levi Mitchell threw 3 TD passes last week against Toronto. He missed out passing for 300 yards the 2nd game in a row but that was because he was pulled at the start of the 4th due to lopsided scores. He ended up passing for 281 yards. RB Jermoe Messam were also pulled out early in the 4th quarter ended up rushing for 133 yards and scored 1 rushing TD. Messam already surpassed 1,000 rushing yards and he is leading the rushing yardage in the CFL. Rob Cote who replaced him rushed 7 times for 28 yards. I am sure Dickenson will rest both Mitchell and Messam early today.
R Davaris Danniels (5 for 126 yards), Kamar Jorden (8 for 117 yards) both caught a touchdown passes. Marquay McDaniel with 993 receiving yards were kicked out of the game in the first half last game. I am sure he'll reach the 1,000 yards early in the 1st half.
Again, the offensive line were solid last game and they only allowed 1 QB sack to DL Justi Hickman last game. Stamps have the least amount of sacks allowed in the CFL with 14.
DEFENSE:
Stamps allowed the least points per game in the league and they lead the league in QB sacks. DE Ja'Gared Davis had a monster game vs Argos sacked Drew Willy 3 times and he also collected 6 tackles. DE Charleston Hughes (2) and LB Joe Burnett(1) also sacked Drew Willy last week. LB Deron Mayo lead all defense with 7 tackles.
Alouettes are pretty much last in all offensive categories so it is looking like Stamps defense will have an easy picking today.
SPECIAL TEAM:
The only bad thing about last week's game is the minor shoulder injury to returner Roy Finch. Finch left the 1st half due to injury. Dickenson was saying the injury was not serious so he'll be ready for the West Final. Roy Finch will not play today and was put on a one-game injury list.
Durant replaced Finch as a punt returner and returned 5 punts for 61 yards, while Anthony Parker took the kickoff return duties. He did pretty well returning 3 kickoffs for 73 yards.
************************************************** *********
Stampeders placed RB Tory Harrison, OL Pierre Lavertu, R Jamal Nixon and DB Dexter Janke on the 46-man rosters while RB/Returner Roy Finch, R Juwan Brescacin were put on a one-game injury list. I am sure Nixon and Janke will returning punts/kickoffs today.
I can guarantee that the Stamps will walk all over the Alouettes today. This is another game for some of the rookies or young guys to shine as I am sure pretty much all the starters will only play for at least 2 or3 quarters. Mitchell and Messam will probably just play the first half. At least I am hoping.
GO STAMPS GO!!!!!

Hopefully, it will be a similar situation to last week's game against the Argos, Stamps build a big lead and Bo sits out the fourth quarter. Just look out for Kyries Hebert, one of the dirtiest players in the league, he's the guy who started all the concussion issues for Jon Cornish.

I'll start taking Bo Levi Mitchell and even Messam after the first half. I'll even rest Davaris Daniels too. Same on D, take Hughes and some of their starter off after the 1st half. Law can play on Hughes' place.

This is not the same discipline Stampeders I've been watching all season. They have like 4 or 5 unnecessary penalties so far and it is only the first quarter. Also Davaris Daniels dropping a sure catch??

Is it bad that I thought it was Anthony Parker who dropped that one?

Another missed call by the referee. That was an illegal block on Giguere. There is no business of Giguere to pull Mayo on that play.
