2016 NBA Offseason
I know there's a Raptors thread, but with free agency open maybe we can keep two threads going for the summer.
Lakers want to give Mozgov 65 mil over 4 years... This new cap is insane.

Bradley Beal nearing five-year, $128 million deal with Wizards. Not even the best player on his team.

Welcome to the new NBA. Biyombo without a doubt is getting at least the Tristan Thompson deal. Noah apparently might get $20 million per and he's in decline and an injury case. But that Mozgov deal is staggering and the clearest sign yet the Lakers are in for a deep depression. Could be the end of the decade before they're a playoff team again, maybe. Times like these having the genius that is Masai really helps the Raps.
Surprised at the DeRozan deal length, thought he'd take a short deal with the chance to opt out. But a no brainer for the Raps, we all have our issues with DeMar, but all he's done is improve his numbers every year. He just needs to be shooting nothing but 3s this summer, a 35% from 3 DeRozan is an elite player. Lets hope he gets there. Besides if Nic Batum, who I like, is worth 5 years and $120 million, DeMar is easily worth another $4 million a season.

Nice the Derozan took a few mill a season less then max . Whatever people think of him in this market he is easily a max player, and the raptors are better with him.
He should spend the whole offseason shooting 3s

Drummond obviously getting the max. Whiteside is overrated as a defender so I'm not sure I like $24 million per. But the new cap...

Good lord. The stars of past must be shaking their head. They were definitely born at the wrong time. These deals are just plain stupidity.

This is mainly because of the huge TV deal that the league signed. This does a good job describing the reasoning:

Looks like the Biz is gone, sounds like 4 years $72 mil with the Magic according to TSN. Can't be signed until Thursday.

These contract this year are just wild. DeRozan's looks pretty good in comparison to these other ones. Some of these GM's and owners are handcuffing their teams' futures.

Wow, too much overpayment. I don't think anyone deserves $10M a season let alone $20M+. Ridiculous!!!
