VPN Recommendations?
Sorry if there's some sort of VPN mega-thread but I can't find it.
Just looking for a VPN so I can actually buy HBONow and stream Game of Thrones instead of scrounging the bottom of the internet to find some fata SD feed.

I use SlickVPN when the deal was $20/year but I don't think they have that available anymore. The speeds are pretty fast and they have multiple servers in major cities around the world.

Question.
Would it be realistic to believe I could use internet to view Game Center Live in Calgary, using a VPN, to view Flames games?
Looking at options to not purchase cable or phone, just internet.

Related...I hear you can get HBO from CraveTV, does anyone know if Game of Thrones is available there with the newest episode on Sunday nights? Seams an affordable way to get it, if it is current. I don't want to wait a month or year for them to make it available though.

Been using Private Internet Access for the past 10 months and its been great. Fast speeds, servers worldwide and the reason I picked them, they don't keep logs. They've got a good reputation, reliable, and have sales all the time.

No. Not even previous seasons of GoT are on Crave.

Well that's funny. The reason I asked, is because I may have gotten a copyright notice from a rights holder that said

Plus, it has never been easier to watch HBO programming legally in Canada, and stream HBO on your favorite devices, by adding HBO Canada to your television subscription to watch current programs or by subscribing to Bell Media’s CraveTV at www.cravetv.ca to watch all of the best programs from the HBO library.
|
So basically, it has not ever been easier. Thanks for trying, though. Morans.

Looks like it. I have SOA, How I met your mom (She's really nice by the way), Nurse Jackie ... I don't think those are on Can Netflix. My VPN is set to US Cali.

There is the TMN (The Movie Network) GO app, which appears to let you stream HBO content on demand, after log in with your cable subscription details.
Actually, there is free preview on now, where I was able to stream the latest Game Of Thrones episode for free, without entering any sort of cable credentials.
http://www.tmngo.ca/collection/free-preview
The branding/communication around it ####ty. "I want to watch HBO. What the hell is a TMN?". And yea, obviously, there's the whole paying for basic cable + equipment cost in order to meet the minimum requirements before you can them give them money for HBO.
For the topic of VPNs, I have also found Privateinternetaccess to be very reliable. BTW, it will no longer work for Netflix region hopping, if that is your thing. But it can get around things like pesky YouTube warnings "This content is not available in your area".

Ha I got that too!
It was actually a light-hearted email, but yeah...it's not easy to legally watch HBO here.
So I'm gonna continue.

Also, a warning about HBO Now:
It works perfectly fine on Apple TV and Mac computers (and iPads too, but seriously, who does that). Not sure about Roku, but hopefully it is as optimized as t he Apple TV stream.
But the performance on Windows computers is horrendous. It stutters every 7 seconds, making watching anything a chore. Actually, the stream works fine in Internet Explorer, but you cannot watch in full screen! This might be a YMMV situation. But all I've read is poor experiences with HBO Now on Windows. I suspect that some are just more tolerant to the terrible quality stream, so don't complain. I have thought about upgrading a high powered computer to Windows 10, and seeing if the Microsoft Edge browser can handle the stream without stuttering, and go to full screen mode.

Oops, I didn't try playing one. Yeah, it doesn't work...
If you want to get through the geo-blocking then find a VPN that offers a unique IP address.

Unblock-us works great for me. Check the Gamecentre threads for info and other people who use the same service. $5 or so a month.

I have been using PIA for about a year, it was great when region hopping Netflix, that was thwarted, but I haven't really missed it. I use PIA when torrenting now.
EDIT: I was just overseas and it worked well to watch local afternoon television on Shaw's FreeRange TV. Oh and the playoffs...
