Patrick Holland also made Second Team, although he's now part of the Habs organization.

An assist for Ferland as Brandon is leading 3-2 in the second period in their series opener vs the Hitmen.

Micheal Ferland had a goal, an assist, 2 PIM, was +2, as Brandon won 1 game 6-2 over Calgary.

This is a little off-topic, but it sucks going from listening to Jeff Hollick's play-by-play calling to listening to Andy Kemper's play-by-play. Hollick is in a class of his own compared to most WHL play-by-play guys.

Since no one posted about this yet , baertschi has 4 assists in his first 2 playoff games. The first game he cuts through the defence twice and passes it off to Rattie. Heres the video- http://winterhawks.com/video/index/i...0483e46c23df8c Portland won 6-3 and 4-0

Ferland has also scored a goal in the 2nd period as Brandon is leading 3-1 over the Hitmen.

Johnny Gaudreau with a goal and an assist tonight, and Billy Arnold with a goal in B.C.'s 4-0 win over Minnesota-Duluth in the NCAA Northeast Regional Final. They play Minnesota April 5 in the Frozen Four Final held in Tampa Bay of all places.

I missed the Flames' game tonight, but I see Jamie Benn scored another two goals. Yes, it's premature to compare Ferland with Benn, but their similarities are interesting:

Both are late bloomers so to speak:

Benn- 5th round pick, 129th overall in 2007.

Ferland-5th round pick, 133rd overall in 2010.

Size- 6'2"-both Ferland/Benn....Both just over 200 lbs.

Both are tough guys: Benn vs. Iggy; Kelly McCrimmon, Brandon's g.m. stated in the Herald that Ferland may be the toughest guy in the WHL.

http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/...747/story.html

Even their WHL stats are similar:

Here's hoping!

I genuinely believe Ferland has all the tools to be an NHLer. My biggest hope is that he becomes a Lucic clone, but would ecstatic if Ferland ever became what Benn has become.

Lucic? Benn? if he becomes half the player as these guys we should be happy but lets slow down with all the hype with Johnny, Sven, Ferland etc.

I honestly see 1800 Goals and 3900 points between these three players

I would be over the moon happy if Ferland turned into a Benn clone. I remember watching Benn play on Kelowna when Backlund was there... you could just tell that he was going to be a star in the NHL.

Why? It's fun to get genuinely excited about Flames prospects who appear to have higher ceilings than their respective draft positions indicate. I don't think it is the same thing as over-rating a player—people are just excited about some pretty exciting things happening right now. If anything, I think that that excitement has been pretty tempered, and I see no good reason to "slow down"—are you afraid of being disappointed?

You're wrong.

1,800 goals and 3,900 points...EACH.

You're right. That's why I wrote it's premature to expect Ferland to be a Benn, but I find some of their similarities interesting ( ie. junior stats, size, draft position, WHL kids, toughness).
I don't expect Ferland to make the big team next year, but he's more exciting to talk about than Kris Chucko or David Van Der Gulik.

What we write shouldn't jinx them.

I dont think its far off to become a Lucic type player. Lucic is a 2nd line forward. Its not reaching to be a 2nd line forward that is physical. Benn on the other hand is basically Rick Nash but phsyical.
