Considering I now hate the Canucks more than the Oilers, it's weird how I was 10 times more nervous for Edmonton/Carolina game 7 than I was for Vancouver/Boston game 7. That would've made me absolutely sick if they had won just a season after we came oh so close, especially considering how many more Cups they already have.
Few things have filled me with more joy than when the Canes hit that empty net to seal up the W.

It must be the anniversary of the Great Edmonton Riots of 2006? Or do people in that cesspool city have more class than the savages to the west? amirite?

That was painful to watch, stopped after 20 seconds. Can't we just nag on Vancouver?

Hopefully Canucks go on a downward spiral like Oilers.

Happy Boston day will be far sweeter than Happy Carolina day. At least Edmonton's team had some honour and players you could cheer for. I have to say, the weakening of both Calgary and Edmonton wears the lustre of their rivalry quite thin.

Really, as annoying it would be for the Canucks and their obnoxious fans to have won the cup, especially in the disgusting manner they tried to accomplish it, the Oilers somehow managing to pull that one out would've been as bad or worse. Calgary's natural rivalry will also be first and foremost Edmonton, no matter how putrid their teams may be currently.
Attending many games over the past decade in Edmonton, the hate of Calgary there is real, and the gloating about 5 Cups eventually comes up as the Flames wax the Oilers each year the past half decade. In Vancouver, in addition to the dislike tfor non burning German automobiles, the dislike at GM Place is anyone that wears an opponent jersey more as a distraction for some loudmouth fans, as opposed to a true hate for Calgary.
In Edmonton that hate is there, and at any point, that 2006 would be rubbed in Calgary's face smugly and incessently.
Happy Carolina Day!

Hockey is built on history. And no matter what happens with Vancouver, or rule changes, or division alignments, or anything else, we have to remember our roots.
It is our responsibility, as Flames fans, to hate the Oilers. Even when they are a joke. Even as Vancouver fans desperately seek validation by trying to become our new rivals.
Remember your roots. Remember what is important in life.
The Oilers suck. Never lose sight of that.

I didn't cheer for any players on Vancouver, there was no one I cheered for on the Edmonton team. In hockey Oilers are the number one enemy to me. No team I HATE more than the Oilers that series in 06 was awesome!!!!! Watching Deadmonton lose it all in game 7 was one of the greatest moments in hockey for me, I ever saw. To this day I have a special place in my heart for Carolina , now Boston joins that same club.

Did they change the starting of seasons and what not between 2004 and 2006? With the lockout in there.

I believe the 2006 season ran late because of the olympic break.
