Congrats Johnny! Even though I'm not a huge fan of this award, it's awesome seeing Flames players win anything

King was there to make sure the flags stay on the new Flames jersey!

LOL @ people asking why king is there. Do they expect him to be chained to his desk?

NSFW!

Looks like they made the trophy Johnny-sized. Or did his dad actually win something too?

Nobody complained more than Gretzky and he won it 5 times

Can someone explain why Johnny would get an additional $150k for winning the award? I thought bonus's were only available for ELC's and 35+ player contracts?

Does this extra $150k go onto a teams salary cap?

Major award bonuses are paid by the league thus have nothing to do with a teams cap.

The lack of understanding and blind hatred of Ken King is becoming comical.

I don't get why people don't like this award. They don't give it to schlubs. Yes, it's the "most gentlemenly" player, but it's also "combined with the highest standard of playing ability."

Past winners I can remember:

Mullen
Bossy
Gretzky (practically owned the trophy)
Datsyuk (like four or five times)
St Louis
Kariya
Francis
Sakic (I'm pretty sure)
Kopitar last year

Like it's not about just not taking penalties. You have to be a pretty good hockey player to win this thing.

That's the trophy the player gets to keep. If you watched the awards show you would have seen the players receiving mini versions of the awards they won.

Not to mention Marcel Dionne, who won it twice (that's why he was there to hand it to Johnny).

I'm a little interested in his exclamation "this is the guy I was with last night".

Thought this photo fit best in this thread--Johnny "Good Guy" Gaudreau riding in the parade this AM

A decent job riding that horse too. Some lady ran up to him for an autograph just after I got this shot and he even signed it while riding!

He's wearing Adidas "Yeezy Boost" running shoes.

He's no "Johnny Cowboy," that's for sure.

It looks like they gave him a tiny, Johnny-sized horse.

He must have changed his mind from yesterday:

Johnny Gaudreau is officially a Calgarian.
The tell-tale sign?
The Calgary Flames winger now owns cowboy boots — an essential wardrobe item for the 10 days of the Calgary Stampede and sensible footwear for riding horses, specifically down 9th Ave. SW.
“I’ve got a hat and shirt and stuff, but they told me to go get some boots,” Gaudreau said with a chuckle, following a summertime skating session at WinSport’s facilities Thursday. “I was just going to wear my regular shoes.
“But the guys have been giving me a hard time, telling me not to wear them.”
