I spent a lot of money playing Ridge Racer 1. I would say about $500. It was in Chinook next to the original food court. Can't remember the name though...

Yeah, not sure. Name sounds familiar though. I remember there was like a restaurant there too, like a Chucky Cheese? It was on the right side when you came up the escalator and then past that was the food court to the right and that open area to the 1st floor, which is still there today.

Yeah, I went to Milton Williams Jr. High over at Glenmore and Elbow. Combine that with a 14 year old with a part time and no parental supervision on finances. One of the first games that cost a $1 if I remember correctly. I would gladly pay to have this cabinet in my apartment

Yup. I am pretty sure that was Easy Street. It was built like a cage, right? It had bluish/greenish iron bars and when you walked in, there was a mini golf course?
I spent a lot of time there as well. But mostly playing Afterburner and Street Fighter.

Used to show up at Centennial arenas 30 minutes before the game/practice just so I could play Lethal Enforcers...
The Grande Prairie Airport has Lethal Enforcers II, which I was completely shocked about.

I was looking for arcades in Calgary when I noticed this board had this recent thread going on about the topic. By reading what's here it looks like it's a pretty grim time for the traditional arcade in this city. I've been thinking of writing a story about the dying arcade culture for a Mount Royal University paper.
Does anyone have any suggestions or contacts of people I can/should talk to? I would love to talk to someone who used to own a traditional arcade back in the day if anyone knows of one.

As a teenager I used to sneak in there and try to play naked strip poker game. The Chinese lady who ran the place always frowned, I'd feel guilty and leave.

Investigating a tip, I went to Loco Lou's for the first time in 8 years. They have the standup Big Buck Hunter arcade and a couple pinballs, Batman and Big Buck Hunter.

I wouldn't be the guy to ask, don't really hang out in bars.
Found a decent site for pinball location info, almost everything for Calgary is up:
www.findapinball.com

Have to throw out a plug for a local guy running his own business:
http://www.richardsonpinball.com/
Dropped by his shop this week to buy a few parts for my pinball restoration and he is one of the most friendly and knowedgable guys in the business. Just a stand up guy, shared some valuable info with me and gave me great advice on my project.
If you're at all interested in a brand new Stern pinball you have to get in touch with him, gets his machines straight from the Stern factory in Chicago (last pinball manufacturer in business) and has a great relationship with them, offers free software updates and a service plan if you buy from him.
