Look at Colorado. They are mind-numbingly terrible. Plus, they have nothing to play for. Pretty easy to predict they will lose every game.
And yet, they are 3-7-0 in their last 10. Still terrible, but a far cry from 0-10-0.
If you look at the last 10 column on NHL.com standings, most teams will have between 9 and 14 points in their last 10 games. There will always be a couple teams on fire, and a couple in the dumpster, but most teams play between .500 hockey and .650 hockey, most of the time.
REGARDLESS OF WHICH TEAMS THEY ARE PLAYING.
This idea that St Louis will win every game because their schedule is easy, and the Flames will lose every game because their schedule is hard, is ridiculously overblown.

I'll keep the fun predicting to myself in the future then.

The best indicator that I have seen, for trying to estimate future outcomes, is sportsclubstats.
They run Monte Carlo simulations, looking at every possible outcome of every game. That data provides very useful information on the distribution of possible outcomes.
Far better - and far easier - way to get projections on the standings.

Sorry, I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer.
People each do this individually for fun, which is all good.
The thing is, the same things get posted on here over and over, and it doesn't feel like an individual exercise when you read it 50 different ways in 10 different threads.
So sorry to rag on you (though I wasn't meaning to)

It's alright. I hadn't seen it yet and was messing around with it for myself and a bit of Sunday boredom.
Thanks for not taking my "I'm taking my ball and going home" reaction as a personal attack

Nothing wrong with guessing that the Blues are going to end the season a hot streak. Not many guessed that the Flames would win 10 in a row and 12 out of 13. You have the Blues and Ducks finishing with 101 points, that means both could pass the Wild and Sharks. Please add how you think the Sharks and Wild games will go and their point totals.

Sure thing:
So with just playing around guessing we'd end up with
Central:
Chicago
Minnesota - 105
St. Louis - 101
Pacific:
San Jose - 107
Anaheim - 101
Calgary - 98
Wild Card:
Edmonton - 98
Nashville - 95

I will be LMAO if the Sharks fall to wildcard spot. The thread should be renamed "Becoming Pacific Div vs Blues/Preds in wildcard race."

I think we can probably drop Kings from the title

What a dumb jynx thread. Not sure if everyone knows but the Flames are behind the Oilers so might as well change the thread title again...

This thread was misguided from the start and continues to be that way.

Any playoff spot will do. This is a team that's missed 7 out of the last 8 post seasons. Even if they have to play against hockey playing bears with guns while on steroids, it's something to be excited about.

Can it be against bears with guns on steroids?
That sounds fantastic!

Only raccoons are allowed to play hockey against bears.

Yep, that's why I said it should be "Pacific Division vs Blues and Preds in wildcard race."

Looks like the Ducks are going to storm past the Sharks and take the division. Do not want to face them in the first round.

It sure looks like it as both teams are tied now.

8 games to go with the four Pacific teams separated by 5 points, with Nashville and St. Louis just one more point behind. Just about every place of finish iteration is still possible.

The separation is even smaller, it is going to be a wild finish.

Crazy situation is that it's possible the Blues and Preds could end up passing most of the Pacific Div teams and the Wild.
