Default buying a used Employee cars

hi guys, I am at a lost and kinda in a dilemma.
Went to test drive a used 2016 VM Golf Wagon with approx 9KM milage last night and kinda like it. However, I learned that it was an employee car from Ontario. What are you guy's opinion on the possibility that these are trashed?

Why would you be worried about a car that had only 9km on it?

It's a used card so wouldn't you have the same worries buying it off a random in terms of it being "trashed"?

If it's treated anything like the work trucks I've been on it's been bagged to ####. Being a 2016 and having low KM makes me think it's probably not that bad

Haha. You must have been looking at that on my lot, I'm assuming it's blue.

But in a nutshell. These cars are owned by VW Canada, and they are driven by VW Canada employees and family members, and they are offered to dealers to sell as premium used. They are the best used cars we sell. And you don't have to worry, VW Canada Corporate doesn't hire losers that bag cars.

I'm the used car manager at said store. I'll send you a PM, and get you the CP deal.

Also was it a employee car from VW? Or just a company car that someone used to go to home and work?

These are VW Canada employee company demos. An employee and or family member gets it as a daily driver. Whenever I sell a used VW to a family member or friend, these are the first cars I go for. These cars are always within 1 model year, and under 20,000 kms. That is when they have to turn them back.

Also I can provide all documentation that this car is in fact what it's advertised as. It's pretty straight forward.

Big difference between a company car and a rental car. People who want to keep their job don't generally trash their company car. That being said there are always idiots in every group, those people tend to not take care of anything so you would probably see other physical evidence of poor care. If it looks fairly pristene inside and out then the mechanicals have probably been treated the same IMO.

I had a former rental for the past 13+ years. Still going pretty good. In fact, I'm sure I've been harder on it than the rental company was.

I don't think I know one person under 35, working for VW Corporate, median age is probably around 48. All of them are professional with big time degrees. These cars are driven around by accountants, analyats and bean counters, not donkeys like me at a dealership that do drive cars hard.

Explains the low KM's then since they take their helicopter everywhere.

The maintenance and future wear and tear costs of a VW are a far more important thing to think about vs whether a car was bagged on or not in its first 9k IMO.

My anecdotal comment is that in general anyone I have known that has owned a VW typically loves their car but seems to have a lot more weird electrical gremlins and issues than any other brand that I have heard of. I think that German cars in general are a bit over engineered if thats even possible. lol.

Well I bought this used GTI from a VW employee.

In short, probably the best deal and experience I have had buying a car.

The employees name....pylon.

Or perhaps the cars are expected to be turned in at 12 months or 20k whichever occurs first. And can switch cars twice a year. That might be a more plausible explanation.

I do love my car, however the windshield washer fluid stopped working. The hose is in a bad place and it bends right where the hood opens up so it eventually broke in half. You can only buy the whole hose all 5 m - for $86! My mechanic was going to replace the entire hose, but then found it's all wrapped up with the electrical wiring from where it starts to where it ends, so he had to rig replacing the section where it was exposed and broken. VW has such weird quirks.

Unless you're doing neutral tranny drops or not doing routine maintenance there is little concern over 'bagging' on a car.

Bag on your car.
Change your fluids.
Continue bagging on your car.

They're meant to be driven.
