I am glad Francisco Liriano is going to be available as long reliever. How about Benoit I think that's his name(pitcher who got injured on that stupid bench brawl vs Yankees).
It was reported on Sept 27th that Benoit could return in 2-3 weeks from that time.

It's been 15 days. Hopefully he's good enough that they put him on the 25 man instead of Feldman or Tepera, but we will see.

If not, then hopefully he gets to return for some World Series action.

Goins simply isn't major league calibre at the plate.
So that's the trade off.
I take Barney.
Yeah, not only is Barney better at the plate, but he's also won a gold glove. So he's just as good, if not better than Goins defensively too.

Goins has HOFer defence, but complete minor league offence. Can't have a black hole in the lineup. Barney's the guy for me.

As for Benoit, if you read between the lines he's probably out for the year.

Score notification that the Jays plan to offer EE a long term deal. No ####.

Terrible for the Jays to be leaking that sort of story now to get that out there for public consumption. Maybe that sort of ploy works in Cleveland but give EE some respect.

He didn't want to negotiate all year and now the Jays are leaking this info when everyone is engaged and excited in playoff run, to try and get a head start on negations and the PR upper hand. And by upper hand, I mean softening the blow for when he leaves, where Shapiro throws his arms in the air and said, well, as you all know we tried before the Alcs but he didn't want to stay in Toronto so we're absolved of all blame that he's signed in Boston.

Hope I'm wrong but the timing of this stinks and reeks of alterior motives from the Jays before the season is even over, with a huge series ahead.

Have the games on prime time on opposite days. Toronto always gets screwed over

Eh - I think we all knew the weekday games had a good chance at being afternoon games. I'm just happy that Monday / Friday are evening games to be honest (I guess these are the off days for the NLCS?)

It's the fact that games 4 & 5 are Tuesday and Wednesday in the afternoon that has people upset.

The games up to October 21 have now been announced for both leagues. The NL games are all 6 PM Calgary time, AL games are 6 PM on days where the NL isn't playing and 2 PM on the others.

God mlb is stupid. I honestly don't care if it is their decision or Fox/TBS fighting it out to force them to put certain games in the afternoon, the fact that in a world of a billion channels and almost unlimited access to content, that they are doing this is so effing bush league. It is goddamn 2016 and they are operating like it is 1985.

Could you honestly imagine if any other major professional sport did this?

I'm so tired of the BS excuses about ratings and business. Nobody will watch an afternoon game. Lots of people will watch an evening game. I ####ing guarantee that two primetime games will have more combined ratings than one afternoon and one evening. Baseball fans who just want to watch what's on will watch anyway and won't care if both games are in primetime. They may be baseball fans but they are also fans of having jobs and nobody has time to watch a 2pm game on a friggin tuesday. Team specific fans aren't gonna tune into a primtime game between two teams they don't care about so punishing them in hopes they watch some crappy matchup is totally irrelevant.

Seriously mlb, #### you.

2pm is 4pm EST. A lot of people will tune in for the second half of those games.

Yeah - they don't care about Western Canada when thinking about the scheduling.

I don't get why they wouldn't do 5 EST and 830 EST though.

That would give them the best chance at huge ratings IMO.
