Love the confidence of this kid.
In the past game interview on Flames TV he said " while we would of liked to end the game in regulation, going into overtime is not a big deal - just go and get the two points"!

Had an idea!

I actually thought he made a mistake on the tying goal yesterday. Shouldn't have committed as far down to the corner as he did allowing Zetterberg to get an awesome chance and then the rebound.
But, given his hockey IQ, you can bet that won't happen again.

Yeah, he was completely lost on that one. He'll spend some hard time watching that over and over but he'll come out of it a better player.

Tkachuk has more points than any Canuck and he's played in less games.
Tkachuk 42 in 61
Horvat 41 in 62
H Sedin 38 in 63
D Sedin 36 in 63

I always get good laugh in when Tkachuk is up to something and the other team tries to get physical and Backlund/Frolik are forced to come in and tie up a guy despite it not being their game at all. You can almost see it on their face "hear we go again".

I don't think I've ever had such a big mood swing as quickly as I did last year watching the draft.
"With the fifth selection, Vancouver selects, from the London Knights..."
"...Olli Juolevi."

I was working and was constantly checking TSN's draft board. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Olli Juolevi next to the Vancouver Canucks. Knew right then we just won the lottery. What's even funnier is that Tkachuk is what they thought Virtanen was.

The fan reaction at the Canucks draft party is pretty classic. ( also posted on page 2)

I wonder who the Flames would've picked if the Canucks did pick Tkachuk. Would they have gone after someone like Keller, or one of the dmen? Or would they have traded the pick for Bishop, as has been rumoured.

Don Cherry just said that Matthew Tkachuk is not as tough as his dad. Could this be because he is only 19-years-old? How "tough" was Keith as a teenager?

Doesn't really matter, the league is much softer then it was in Keith's era anyways.

Keith joined the Jets after playing in the 1992 Olympics (one month before his 20th birthday) and had 4 fights in 17 games. Matthew has 2 fights in 61 games this year.
Of course, things have changed a lot in the last 25 years. In 1991-92, 6 teams averaged at least one fight per game, and 21 of 22 teams had at least 50 fights in the season. Last season, Anaheim led the entire NHL with 42 fights.

Keith was a monster, as a 19 year old he had 4 fighting majors in his first 15 games or so. I still remember him beating the tar out of a larger Joel Otto in his first or second year.

I love how all the camera men at the bottom are filming everyone's faces just for the reactions. I wish I could see that footage.
