Default Linux Via Boot Camp?

I'm kind of in the preliminary stages of looking into installing Linux via Boot Camp. I've done a few Google searches, but I'm interested if anyone here has any hands-on experience with actually doing it.

My concerns (other than getting Boot Camp to actually install it) are drivers, performance, compiz, etc. Embarrassingly enough, compiz is a pretty big factor in wanting to do this. Otherwise, I would just run a VM through Fusion.

If it's a factor, this is the MacBook I'm using: http://www.apple.com/ca/macbookpro/specs-17inch.html (standard config).

Also, the OS is 10.6.2 (latest).

Edit: I'm not really picky about the flavour of Linux. Fedora Core or openSUSE would be my first preference, but I'm down with using whatever.
