Unfortunately both of them look like they could be a good hire for the Riders. I would love to see Mace back in Calgary.

Would have been the better choice over Monson, just a terrible hire.

I wonder if DD is going to give up the head coaching duties and just wear the GM's hat, maybe Mark Kilam gets promoted to head coach? Players really seem to like him.

It didn't sound like he had any intentions of going upstairs full time and the Stamps seem to make these decisions well in advance.

I guess we'll see if anything happens in the next couple of weeks, if not, then I think you're right EE. I just think DD is being stretched too thin, GM is tough enough as it is.

They had a clear succession plan for Dave as well.
I don't think one has been talked about for coaching. I do wonder when Huff retires if Dave takes on the President and GM role.
If that happens the hope would be to bring in someone new and fresh to the organization, I don't think a team has promoted a coach to head coach who was assistant under 2 previous coaches?

I agree with you for several reasons. First is because I do believe he's probably wearing too many hats and second because the coaching staff is a little stale. As long as Dave is the head coach it's going to be the same middle of the road offense with telegraphed runs on first down and not a lot of creativity.

Looks like the Lions are announcing a TD Pacific game tomorrow to be held in Victoria next summer. Should be in Langford at Starlight instead.

And it's official...going to Royal Athletic Park for the 'non rivalry game' on the Labour Day weekend.

However, i would think a backup should be able to look somewhat able to function well when running the whole offense, and I dont think we have ever really seen Stevens do so.

It's the weirdest thing. Dickenson never even considers putting him out there if the starter is struggling, yet he doesn't design any QB option plays for him like the Bombers used to do with Streveler. I feel he's been really underutilized given his potential as a change of pace QB. His role so far has been primarily nothing more than short yardage QB sneaks so I'm kind of surprised he would re-sign in Calgary

This seems like a win for the CFL with only 8 teams in the inaugural season of this merger. Hopefully another 1 & done spring league.

Corey Mace is putting together his coaching staff in Regina and has plucked Marc Mueller from the Stamps to be his offensive coordinator.

I always liked Mace. Sucks that I now have to cheer for him to fail. With a defensive head coach there's going to likely be a lot of pressure on Mueller to produce a solid offense. He will likely need to improvise on Dave's vanilla offense to succeed.

Didn't see this posted but this past week Hamilton made some changes.
Orlando Steinauer out as coach to become President of Football operations.
Ed Hervey named GM.
Scott Milanovich named HC.
