Looked like a pretty blatant elbow, even accounting for how tall this kid is. Being a Calgary boy you want to see him succeed, but he's picking a hard road between tangling with the big boys and putting a target on his back with this stuff.
I respect how fearless he is on one hand, but he's going to have to pick his spots or his career is going to be short having to fight the heavyweights all the time.
I just saw the highlight after the hit where he waved 'bye-bye' to Macdermid who was chasing after him, who got a ten minute misconduct. Macdermid the goon isn't somebody I'd be taunting... yikes kid.
Macdermid went on about how a rookie shouldn't be doing that stuff in his first year (aka 'the code'). When I hear about 'the code' I think of clowns like kassian.... which makes it kind of amusing when a rookie says FU to all that stuff.
A player shouldn't be throwing that elbow at all, whether he's a rookie or a veteran. Full stop. Dinosaurs like Macdermid bringing up the 'code' when it suits them gets old pretty quick.
And I wouldn't say he's little... lol 6 foot 7 lol!
Yeah he kind of came out of nowhere, suddenly on the Rangers and fighting almost every heavyweight.
According to hockey DB played in the AJHL for the Saints, then WHL thunderbirds for a couple seasons, then lots of penalty minutes in the AHL for the wolf pack. Never really heard much about him as a Calgary kid.

His utter disrespect at the end after injuring the player (yapping with his hand) should have earned him a 10 game suspension. Guy doesn't give a ####. Another predatory player that should be banned from the league.

Yeah, I'm pretty old school but I still find the talk of "the code" cringey.
Just say that the other crap doesn't belong in the game-no need to reference this so-called "code"

He will be taught in future generations on what CTE can do to a hockey brain. He's an awful fighter and shouldn't fight anymore. And probably shouldn't throw dirty hits anymore.
I usually try to cheer for Calgary guys, but this kid is running around, and it's going to be pretty tough to feel bad when he eventually gets run through the boards.
I get that guys like him need to play on the edge to maintain an NHL job, but he's going to have to learn where the line is and how to straddle it.

All suspensions like this do is encourage other goons to tune this guy up.
He’s going to seriously hurt someone or get hurt himself. This is not a player that is finding the line, this is a player living on the wrong side of it on purpose.
