His house had been burglarized multiple times, so he parked his car at a neighbours, allegedly, to lure the would-be thieves (thinking the house was empty) while he hid in his basement waiting to shoot. His was a bit more clear-cut as he recorded the incident and didn't even bother to report the incident until the next day. He got life.

That's absolutely absurd. No ones property is worth someone's life. If you hear someone in your house, get into a locked room and phone the cops. If the intruders then try to breach that locked door, then sure, open up.
That's UnAmerican, only liberal cowards would do that.
On top of that, from troutman's link, it appears there was more to this story then simply being afraid and firing shots...
Obviously we don't know the whole story, but it sounds like there was something going on before the fatal shots. If I was to read into that even more (which I know isn't fair) I would guess he confronted the teen without shots fired, the teen likely got scared and just wanted to leave at that point, and buddy chased him around the property, intimidating him and then eventually shot him in the garage.
I know, I know "How could you possibly get all that from one sentence", but that's just my guess, as I doubt they'd have stated that without strong evidence/indication.
I remember this story when it was new.
The man had suspected some had been breaking into his garage for sometime so he left his garage door open . He then waited one day and when the kid entered he opened fire.
Terrible. Toddler pulls gun out of mothers purse and shoots her.
It would be very interesting to see statistics on how many people are killed with their own firearms vs. how many times they actually use those guns in self defense
If you're not going use a holster, carry in Condition 3. Having your carry gun in Condition 1 or 2 outside of a holster (in a purse or center console) is just asking for trouble.

It's her God given right to carry a gun however she wants. If you want to try to regulate how people carry their guns, it will just lead to total confiscation, and then the tyrannical Marxist government will go all Nazi on the patriots.

I read 3 different new stories and I found it funny that in all of them, they never fail to mention that the Walmart will re-open at 6am, as if it is an important part of the story to get out to the public. Are people that desensitized to gun deaths that the thing concerning them is when the Walmart will re-open?

I'm surprised a toddler is strong enough to pull the trigger of a gun. I didn't think I could accidentally shoot a gun. I'd have to put some force into it.

Once the hammer is cocked, there is a lot less force needed to pull the trigger versus not having it cocked. With the hammer cocked, it is very feasible that a toddler could exert enough force to fire.
A stock Glock, not equipped with NY1 or NY2 trigger kit, would take about 6lbf to fire. For some, the downside to the Glock is the lack of a safety catch, instead relying on a catch on the trigger needing to be depressed while firing. The Glock is nice because it is drop proof, but some would probably like an external safety on it.

Depending on the make of this small caliber firearm. Various small caliber arms have less force need to discharge the weapon. They are marketed to woman for this specific reason.

I've never understood posing beside your fresh kill. Morbid.
