Yeah I don't think either should be re-signed. We need to add a legit offensive threat to our 2nd line.
Tanguay - Cammalleri - Iginla
Baertschi - Cervenka - (insert Jagr, Doan or Semin)
Glencross - Backlund - Comeau
(insert Prust or Tootoo) - Jones - Jackman
...and of course, frig off Stajan.

I agree. other than Jokinen, there are better players available (or better fits) July 1st compared to all of our UFAs

This is my preferred lineup situation as well.
Have this in place, and let Horak, Aliu, Bouma, Jones, and the rest earn their spots.
Plus one of Zanon, Sarich, or Allen on D. I bet Sarich would come back for a cheaper contract ($1.5ish).

I would love to have Prust back, but I'm quite doubtful he'll give the Flames a third chance. Shouldn't have let him go the first two times!

Easy fix. Give him a NMC.

Apparently Prust is asking for around $2.5M with pretty significant term. I don't think the Flames should do that.

If that's the case, I'd sooner go after Tootoo (who will still get somewhere between 1.5 and 2 per I'm sure).
I like the idea of landing Tootoo. He plays on the edge, something we need.

Definitely not worth 2.5 million for 29 point and 17 point seasons with NY. I would go as high as 1.5 and I would give him that for 3 or 4 seasons. He's a great, consistent 4th liner who can chip in offensively and brings all the intangibles including fighting, he's worth a 4 year 6 or 7 mill deal, but no higher. I'm thinking he goes to Detroit though, they have the cap space and could use some grit like Prust, plus I think he is a 30 or 40 point player in the right situation in Detroit.

July 1 is like an eBay auction, people always over pay.
